Job Description

Seeking a mid- or senior-level software engineer to join a team responsible for developing cybersecurity software for the US Navy submarine and surface fleet. This team is responsible for software development and resolution of integration issues, both in a laboratory environment and onboard U.S. Navy submarines and ships. Candidates should have a demonstrated interest in developing readable, maintainable, quality software. Successful candidates will possess a trained eye for detail, will be reliable, and be able to work effectively as part of a team.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Ability to lead small teams of 3-4 developers and integrators through the system lifecycle of requirements, design, development, integration, and testing of software components.
* Deep knowledge of Linux, bash scripting, and development languages including Java, C/C++, Python.
* Knowledge of database technologies, message queueing, networking, encryption, and related system-of-systems technologies and approaches to highly integrated complex systems.
* Experience working with high availability, mission critical, tactical systems made up of custom software, COTS applications, and open source software.
* Knowledge of provisioning, configuration management, and release management.
* Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, system security, and secure programming methodologies.
* Experience with virtualization desired.
* Participate in various technical and program meetings on a weekly basis

Skills/Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Knowledge of software development lifecycle, including configuration management, good coding practices, and experience in writing, testing, and deploying production-quality software.
* Software development experience using Java, C/C++, Python, and other languages in a Linux environment.
* Knowledge of and experience using Linux (basic OS comprehension and basic shell scripting), preferably Red Hat or derivatives
* Experience with open source software and custom software, as well as integration between software applications using middle tier integration and data-driven models.
* Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices.
* Commitment to teamwork, good communication, and critical thinking required.
* Strong written and oral communication skills

Education/Experience

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related degree, with 3-10 years' relevant experience
* Ideal candidates will possess industry-recognized certifications such as RHCE, Security+, CISSP, Cisco, Java, etc.

This position requires the applicant to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.
