Job Description

Seeking an entry- or mid-level integration engineer to join a team responsible for integrating cybersecurity software for the US Navy submarine and surface fleet. This team is responsible for analysis, software deployment, and resolution of integration issues within laboratory environments for use on U.S. Navy submarines and ships. Candidates should have a demonstrated interest in developing software and engineering solutions by identifying, configuring, and modifying software and systems. Successful candidates will possess a trained eye for detail, will be reliable, and be able to work effectively as part of a team.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Integrate COTS and GOTS tools, including: anti-virus, auditing, intrusion detection, network integrity and surveillance to address system objectives
* Apply critical thinking to system challenges and apply a wide range of options to determine optimal solution set
* Perform thorough unit testing of software components to prepare for integration in a larger system
* Leverage Java, C/C++, or Python to perform customization, configure interfaces, and to integrate open source or COTS software with existing frameworks, leverage logging models, or provide similar connectors with existing systems.
* Employ software platforms, database technology, and existing structures to improve usage of open source and COTS software to improve cybersecurity and improve system effectiveness and efficiency
* Conduct software component integration to ensure end-to-end system functionality prior to formal testing
* Participate in various technical and program meetings on a weekly basis
* Research, identify, and evaluate new technologies for adoption by the Navy

Skills/Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Knowledge of software development lifecycle, including configuration management, good coding practices, and experience in writing, testing, and deploying production-quality software
* Software implementation experience and the use of Java, C/C++, Python, and other languages in a Linux environment to support configuration and customization as needed
* Knowledge of and experience using Linux (basic OS comprehension and basic shell scripting), preferably Red Hat or derivatives
* Experience with open source software and custom software, as well as integration between software applications using middle tier integration and data-driven models
* Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices
* Commitment to teamwork, good communication, and critical thinking required
* Strong written and oral communication skills

Education/Experience

* BS in Computer Engineering or similar degree
* Ideal candidates will possess industry-recognized certifications including Security+.

This position requires the applicant to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.
