Responsibilities

* Deliver regional or global projects as approved, prioritized, and assigned
* Responsible for hardware and software lifecycle upgrades, ensuring that services delivered are based on supported platforms
* Responsible for providing documentation and training related to regional core infrastructure to 1st and 2nd level support teams (helpdesk and sub-regions) as required so that these teams can deliver high quality support to North America end users (increase 1st level resolution).
* Liaise between various IS Support Teams for Projects, support, and everyday processes with focus on leading North America on standardization.
* Manage, develop, deploy, and support new and existing Server Infrastructure within the Americas with the country based teams
* Collaborate with all appropriate teams to gather functional and non-functional requirements for a specific project or enhancement
* Ensure solution architectures conform to Messer and ITIL Standards
* Develop technical design specifications and documentation (CMDB, input on SLDs, technical doc, KB articles, policies, procedures, etc.) for servers/storage/various core infrastructure and liaise with internal/external teams as needed
* Identify risks and participate in defining risk mitigation and control activities
* Understand licensing and cost implications to solutions/architecture such that licensing is taken into consideration in the solutions proposed/delivered.
* Responsible for core infrastructure server licenses and support agreements - keeping up to date with vendors, internal documentation, and strive to improve efficiencies by proposing cost effective solutions, changes in architecture, either to existing or new.
* Incorporate security requirements into the design, understand and comply with Messer and ITIL standards
* Manage end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best-practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance
* Serve as a liaison between other technical staff, management, users, and vendors regarding service requests, usage, standards, security, and other technical matters.
* Provide subject matter expertise, advice and consultancy for assigned technology and infrastructure systems
* Evaluates infrastructure services equipment, services and software for purchase; recommends new configurations, provides training or arranges for vendor training for system users. Develops cost estimates and makes recommendations for systems development and upgrades to existing systems.
* Participation in the 24/7 On-Call support rotation - Work outside of the regular work schedule to support scheduled maintenance and unexpected outages
* Monitor systems and identify performance and/or capacity issues proactively
* Work within strict time frames and work to resolve incidents within defined timeframes
* Develop skills to support new models of IT infrastructure and service approaches as it changes with time.
* Partner with clients to deliver robust and scalable solutions that may involve cross-platform, multi-tiered, and/or fault tolerant computing components.
* Work on complex problems where the analysis requires knowledge of many diverse system components, such as database, operating system, network, hardware, and other middleware software components.
* Facilitate change, process improvement and lead standardization within infrastructure, liaising with other IT teams (within and outside of North America)
* Define and maintain best practice, standards, guidelines, policies within North America Architecture
* Identify and monitor IS-related application/technology trends and developments, maintaining an informed and balanced view of application/technology futures / outlook in areas of interest to Messer
* Assist in evaluating software/service/hosting solutions for required projects, both internal existing ones as well as solutions new to Messer
* Ensure system backups are successfully completed according to business/legal requirements and data restore testing is completed on a regular basis
* Responsible for regional systems management environment (SCCM); ensuring software updates, software deployment, inventory etc. are working effectively for Core Infrastructure
* Ensure monthly security patches are being applied to servers to meet regional security KPI targets.
* Proactively look for cost efficiencies and implement once approved

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years Working in the IT systems infrastructure area, preferably in a Global Corporate environment

Other Qualifications:

Ability to work and communicate with all levels of employees both local and global Language: English-Spoken/Written Mandatory. Spanish/Portuguese an asset.Financial experience - capex / opex / controls
