RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Control Systems Engineer will be responsible for remote and on-site site support of control systems for material handling equipment, providing troubleshooting, design/implementation/document control solutions, act as a liaison for internal and external resources, and be on call as needed. This position will also provide proper training, administration, oversight, and support to the Control Systems Leads (CSL) and Controls Systems Tech (CST) team members on troubleshooting and Preventive Maintenance applications in a proactive manner.

The following roles and responsibilities are required for a successful Control Systems Engineer:

* Proven leadership and previous experience in building/supporting a scalable and repeatable automation engineering platform; preferably in a material handling/logistics/distribution network
* Experience working within large, diverse, matrixed and remote teams
* Technical leadership and training of Controls Systems teams
* Initiation, coordination and implementation of automation controls equipment projects for new systems deployment, equipment upgrades and optimization projects
* Assist in developing long-term migration/upgrade path for core control system equipment within the Fulfillment Center network
* Provide technical direction and guidance in system issue troubleshooting and root cause analysis
* Monitor MHE metrics and partner with Reliability Maintenance and Engineering and Operations for system performance issues
* Provide engineering review of controls changes following established CM practices and procedures
* Provide programming solutions to issues of MHE automation controls systems using PLC and PC based software
* Maintain, troubleshoot and modify PLC ladder logic for MHE systems including PLC/PC Controllers and industrial networks such as Ethernet, ControlNet, Device Net, Profibus, ProfiNet, As-i, motor control systems (LIM, LSM, VFD), Servo drives, remote I/O, vision systems, and electrical distribution systems
* Act as escalation support for the control systems technician team; appropriately escalate downtime situations to vendors or headquarters for support to restore equipment operation
* Monitor MHE Metrics and partner with facilities/client operations teams to deploy system performance improvements within the fulfillment center
* Work within the cross site network to provide support and guidance for other fulfillment centers.

* Utilize AutoCad for review, modifications, and design changes to controls systems
* Provide support and working relationships with Operations Engineering, AFT Controls Teams, Fulfillment Center Software teams, and IT to deliver solid performance within MHE automation controls systems
* Provide technical resources at the Network level for Automation and Controls support
* Manage Trouble Tickets, Change Management, and root cause analysis within assigned areas
* Work with Automation and Controls vendors on a variety of issues and manage/coordinate vendor activities for upgrades/hotfixes/controls programming issue resolutions
* Provide technical expertise using RSLogix 5000 to troubleshoot, program and modify PLC code
* Provide technical expertise for Robotics systems components

Basic Qualifications


* 4+ years of control system working experience in PLC based controls design, development, implementation and support
* Experience with Siemens and/or Allen Bradley (A&B) PLC control level issue diagnosis
* Experience in dealing with material handling, flow and capacity
* Experience in Industrial networking and communications
* Expertise with Siemens and/or Allen Bradley PLC processers and input/output modules
* Expertise with HMI systems, Industrial Networks, VFD's, Servo Controllers, etc.
* Expertise with Industrial control systems, both hardware and software
* Expertise using RSLogix 5000 and proven ability to troubleshoot, program and modify PLC
* Experience with Robotics systems components
* Ability to maintain, troubleshoot and modify program HMI components
* Experience with 3 phase electrical systems
* Strong skills in areas of leadership, organization and process management
* Results driven - the ability to analyze, act, and implement to ensure desired results are achieved
* A team player who is willing to roll up the sleeves
* Self-motivated and customer-centric
* Experience with email and MS Excel
* Fluent in English
* Ability to travel 70-90%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Master's degree in Business Administration, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
* 7+ years of electrical and automation controls experience
* Experience with systems controls design and integration
* Experience in field service engineering
* Experience supporting a wide range of different conveyors and sort systems
* Proven history of remote technical phone support
* Experience with advanced automation controls systems
* Experience with industrial robotics
* Experience in business analysis and process re-engineering
* Project management experience with PMP certification
