Job summary

The Red Hat Public Sector Consulting team is looking for a Consulting Architect to join our team, ideally in New York City, NY but remote candidates will also be considered. In this role, you will guide the adoption of Red Hat's solutions in our key enterprise accounts, government agencies, and service provider partners. Through a series of interactions both in-person and remote, you'll win the trust and confidence of customer engineering, development, and operations teams by aligning their requirements and use cases with the functional capabilities of our solutions. As a Consulting Architect, you'll need to have a solid understanding of virtualization and DevOps methodologies, tools, and of the ways in which these can be applied within a team. You'll also play a crucial role in bringing together cross-functional teams from Red Hat's product business, product engineering, support, professional services, and sales teams to meet the needs of our most demanding customers. You'll serve as a customer advocate within these teams, architecting the right solutions and ensuring that these solutions are implemented and supported in an innovative and reliable way. Primary job responsibilities

* Deliver successful discovery, analysis, and design workshops for small to medium teams of both technical and non-technical backgrounds that shape the customer use cases and architecture design decisions
* Scope delivery projects and guide customers through successful pilot and production deployments
* Oversee the design, creation, and delivery of content that enables the broader Red Hat teams, including the Presales, Consulting, and Customer Experience and Engagement (CEE) teams, to sell, service, and support our cloud solutions at scale
* Work closely with product business, product engineering, consulting, support, and sales teams to ensure excellent customer experience with Red Hat's offerings
* Contribute to the development of repeatable methodologies and tools designed to scale Red Hat's services capabilities, promote repeatable customer engagements, and lower delivery risks
* Demonstrate expertise in cloud and DevOps communities by producing outstanding whitepapers and webinars, code contributions to relevant projects, and speeches at industry-leading conferences
* Work with customers on writing of the business justifications if needed

Required skills

* Background in architecting and designing complex customer solutions in a rapidly evolving technology field
* 8+ years of experience in a solutions architect, enterprise architect, or architect consulting delivery role
* 4+ years of experience focusing on cloud environments and their supporting infrastructures
* Solid background in consultative customer engagement with either a major consulting services team or within the services division of a major software company
* Proven record of working in a strategic advisory capacity to senior IT and business executives
* Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including extensive experience presenting to C-level executives at large firms
* Solutions sales mentality in an environment with multiple offerings and solutions
* Proven ability to work seamlessly with distributed cross-functional teams to achieve success on behalf of customers
* Good balance of strategic and tactical skills with a high level of mental agility and capacity for original thought
* Willingness to study on your own, learn quickly, and put new knowledge into practice
* Passion for open source, software, tooling, and automation
* Intermediate-level scripting in Bash or Python
* Willingness to travel up to 75%

The following skills are considered a plus:

* Broad and deep technical experience with one or more virtualization and cloud technologies like Red Hat OpenStack Platform, Red Hat Virtualization, VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, etc.
* Deep understanding of and experience with DISA, NIST, and STIG security guidelines and how to adhere to them
* Experience across one or more vertical industry areas
* Comfortable working with highly distributed teams, including interaction with open source communities via email and IRC
* Experience working in a quality assurance (QA) role or working with ticketing systems or bug tracking tools
* Familiarity with security fundamentals at the infrastructure and operating system levels, including cloud and hypervisor
