The Connected Technologies Technology Specialist role supports customer acquisition and retention within our Building Technology & Solutions business at Johnson Controls. Due to the growth of our Connected Technologies (CT) & Building Wide System Integration (BWSI) business, we are seeking seasoned technology-focused and project-oriented specialists to assist with developing and delivering network and low voltage system projects for large commercial buildings.

In this role, you will deliver projects for commercial buildings within these industries: healthcare, transportation/airports, government, schools, sports & entertainment venues, mixed-use developments, and more. You will support operations teams, subcontractors, and vendors, working closely with our customers, while serving as a technical expert. You will provide the technical expertise and leadership for the project delivery on large, complex, high-risk projects. We're looking for experienced building technology professionals to make an immediate impact on this critical component of our growing building technology business.

How you will do it

Under general supervision, the Connected Technologies Technology Specialist (CTTS), will be responsible for the successful execution of assigned Building Wide Systems Integration (BWSI) & Advanced Solutions scope of work. The successful candidate ensures that assigned projects are executed in alignment with the contract scope of work, the project schedule, and within and/or below the project budget. Additional duties include assurance that all work performed is in compliance with state, local and federal laws, codes and legal requirements all while maintaining nothing but highest of level of ethics in performing their duties. Fully understands, adheres to and ensures that all Johnson Controls personnel and our subcontractors comply with all JCI safety standards and policies.

What will you do:

As a Mechanically focused Field Project Manager, you are responsible for profitable execution of assigned mechanical projects, including project delivery, estimating, and financial management. Following standardized project management procedures, will determine optimum resource levels needed to meet schedule milestones and monitor workforce levels. You will have your hand on the project pulse at all times, ensuring that all scope changes are quickly and properly documented and that change orders are approved prior to performance of work. You will be responsible for implementing site safety and security procedures and will play an active role in developing the safety program.

How will you do it:

* Act as the primary on-site leader for assigned projects.
* Perform cost estimating, project scheduling and project management activities; maintain positive cash flow.
* Ensure projects are properly executed, as budgeted, and billed in a timely manner within scope of the contract.
* Manage the selection, ordering, and delivery schedule of materials to be procured for the projects assigned.
* Proactively work to establish advantageous long-term customer and contractor relationships.
* Interface with customer throughout the project life cycle to gain feedback on customer satisfaction.

* Provide leadership by demonstrating focus on exceeding customers' expectations.
* Communicate project status to management, providing forecasts of revenue, costs, and gross margin for the project.
* Actively pursue additional business through change orders; perform associated cost estimates, prepare proposals and Negotiate final settlement price and customer acceptance.
* Negotiate, prepare and issue subcontracts; foster and maintain good working relationships with subcontractors.
* Ensures compliance with local, state and federal legal requirements.
* Coordinates customer-training requirements.
* Adhere to all Johnson Controls and customer safety standards, demonstrating a high degree of safety awareness for all Johnson Controls employees and worksite-based subcontractors.

What we look for:

* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Minimum of seven years of direct technical project management experience in the areas of BMS, fire alarm systems, security systems, or IT networking.
* Direct installation management of low voltage systems including BMS, Sec/Fire, cabling infrastructure, IT networks (MAN, WAN, LAN WLAN) architecture, IT based integration and IT enterprise level applications (Voice & Video) in a large construction event and non-construction/retrofit projects.
* Vendor Management experience, managing multiple IT Sub-Contractors to obtain a high quality enterprise level implementation.
* Certifications include a current Project Management Professional (PMP). Additional requirements specific to IT technology are: minimum of a Cisco CCNA or CCDA Certification or an equivalent, with a specialization/certification in one of the following areas: CCNP, CCSP, CCVP, CCDP or RCCD. Requirements for security technology include experience and certification in design and implementation of access control, intrusion detection video management and analytics platforms.
* Experience with Software House, Genetec, Vidiant, and American Dynamics is desired.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, customer interface skills, documentation and organization skills, process oriented, problem solving, and the ability to be a highly effective team member is required.
* Significant travel required.
