Job Description
Located in a city known for its rich technology and innovative leadership, our Boston Research Center sits adjacent to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The center conducts research in computational reservoir modeling and nanotechnology and develops advanced materials science and separation technology systems.
Basic Function
Develop mathematical methods, algorithms, and software for next-generation reservoir simulators.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design and develop scientific software
* Work with parent company (Saudi Aramco) technical experts to establish technical requirements for software
* Design parts of software architecture
* Develop and implement numerical methods and solvers in new and existing simulator frameworks
* Attend scientific conferences and read technical publications to identify cutting-edge technologies for application to simulator development
* Make and deliver technical presentations within Aramco Services Company (ASC) and Saudi Aramco, as well as at outside technical conferences
* Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
* B.S. Degree in engineering or equivalent technical field required; PhD degree highly preferred
* At least ten (10) years of experience required; 12 years of related experience preferred, which may involve work performed in the course of PhD
* Course work and/or research must focus on scientific computing; degrees in computer science, mathematics, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, and aeronautics and astronautics are preferred
* Strong programming skills in C/C++, Fortran, Python, or MATLAB
* Experience with high performance computing and parallel programming (e.g. MPI)
* Knowledge of numerical methods for partial differential equations
* Familiarity with Linux operating system
* Familiarity with software development toolchain (e.g. unit testing, continuous integration, version control, debugging, and profiling)
* Ability to prepare highly technical reports and memoranda, and to make oral/graphic presentations to all levels of management
* Must possess good work habits, a strong work ethic, and be able to adhere to company work hours, policies, and standard business etiquette
* Must be able to communicate and comprehend English accurately, clearly, and concisely at a level required to perform the job as outlined
