Description

The purpose of this work is to acquire an integrated hardware solution and professional Information Technology (IT) services for providing secure, highly available, enterprise HPC services, systems architecture, integration, and consulting services to clients served by the customer.

Provide high level expertise in the application of technology to areas of interest to government health organizations including Medical Informatics or Public Health Informatics; statistics, bio-statistics, mathematics; specific tools and data resources relevant to the federal health mission including SAS, Epi Info, etc.; applying sound quantitative data and methods to support deployment of resources for massive public health surveillance, prevention and intervention campaigns and related health activities. Provide expertise across a wide variety of IT areas as applied to public health, including information retrieval technology, decision science, web technology, data mining, expert systems, networking, public health science, and education. Provide expertise in the integration of a variety of heterogeneous public health information systems and databases the sharing and dissemination of public health information; in the interaction of information security technology and the requirements for privacy and confidentiality of public health data; in the application of the HIPAA regulations to the use of information technology in public health; in new areas of interest to public health including the information available from managed care organizations; with national and/or international standards development activities such as HL7, X12, W3C; and in the application of advanced scientific visualization technology to public health science and practice. Work as a technical leader to implement solutions to current problems and future deficiencies in our HPC environment in conjunction with junior and senior administrators and technical members of other HPC teams.

Qualifications

Required:

* Ph.D in the biological sciences with three (3) or more years of post-doctoral or relative work experience


* Three (3) or more years experience working in an HPC environment (HPC - High Performance Computing Technologies) with vendor products such as those from Dell EMC, HPE, DDN, Cray and IBM required. The environment can be academic, govt. lab or an industrial HPC setting


* Three (3) or more years experience with one or more of the following: Perl, Bash or Python


* Experience with publications in a broad spectrum of applications and data analysis in one or more of the following areas: Genomics, Molecular Dynamics, Image Analysis (fMRIs, EM images etc.), Mathematical/Statistical analysis


* Experience working with large scale biological/genomic data and data movement within analysis workflows in a data parallel or program parallel HPC setting


* Three (3) or more years experience with biological databases



Desired:

* Experience in programming in higher level languages like C/C++


* Experience visualizing large scale data sets


* Ability to compile, build, install, and document scientific and biomedical applications


* Ability to develop reasonable tests and example input for genomic applications.


* Excellent oral and written communication skills


* Experience presenting and/or teaching


* Ability to work both independently and as part of the team


* Self-motivated with excellent organizational, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills


* Specialize in the application of statistics and/or computer technology to biological studies applying the use of statistical software packages.



Clearance Requirement:

* Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
