Job Description

The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard is looking for an exceptional candidate for an Associate Computational Biologist position in the Cancer Program. This position affords the exciting opportunity to join the PRISM cancer discovery group and to analyze and interpret the behavior of new potential cancer therapeutics in our multiplexed PRISM cell-viability screen.

We seek a highly motivated and organized individual who will be enthusiastic about taking a hands-on, problem-solving approach, interacting closely with research scientists and associates in a collaborative work environment. The successful candidate will have an outstanding academic record and strong communication skills, will demonstrate innovative and analytical thinking, and will enjoy working in an interdisciplinary team. The candidate will design algorithms, apply statistical methods, and develop ways to analyze, integrate, and interpret a wealth of biological data that will directly inform technology-development and therapeutic-discovery projects.

Characteristic Duties:

* Apply existing and novel algorithms to large-scale small-molecule and genomic screening data sets to analyze data quality, critically review and analyze results, and communicate results to colleagues.
* Work closely with biologists to design experiments to validate and interpret findings and refine existing protocols.
* Develop data-analysis strategies, write algorithms, and deploy computational tools for the exploration of complex phenotypic datasets.
* Prepare high-quality publications and oral presentations.

Requirements:

* BSc in Biology, Computational Biology, or a related field is required.
* Background knowledge of cancer biology and/or biochemistry preferred.
* Strong programming skills and experience in algorithm development (experience with R preferred).
* Knowledge in statistics and computational data analysis.
* Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
* Ability to identify and solve complex problems as part of an interdisciplinary team.
