Overview:

The Competitive Intelligence Analyst position will help Vistra Energy expand its retail footprint by providing market information and insight into competitive electric territories and inform go-to-market strategies for those areas. The Analyst will be responsible for defining, gathering, analyzing, and distributing intelligence about products, customers, competitors, and any aspect of the retail electric environment. He or she will support strategic business decisions and provide insight into marketplace dynamics and challenges in a structured, disciplined, and ethical manner using published and non-published sources.

Responsibilities:

* Gather relevant market data, including default pricing and competitor data and provide key trend analysis for marketing allocation decisions
* Analyze product offerings in market and provide recommendations to relevant business partners to adapt the company's sales and product strategies
* Develop and enhance existing reporting; must be comfortable working with large quantities of data in Excel, Tableau, and SAS preferred
* Monitor and analyze new market participants and disruptors, assess the level of potential strategic opportunity and/or threat, and lead communication of appropriate information to business stakeholders and management
* Collaborate with marketing services, operations, financial planning and accounting, product development, legal and regulatory, wholesale, and other support functions to understand intelligence gaps and then disseminate competitor information to all appropriate stakeholders
* Actively participate in cross-functional teams, providing analysis expertise, offering fresh perspectives, and challenging the conventional view to better align decision making with changing market environments

Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in business or related field; MBA or other related advanced degree preferred
* 3+ years significant professional experience; 5+ years preferred
* Prior experience in creating visual dashboards; Tableau highly preferred
* Exceptional knowledge of Electric Industry and Competitive Retail Markets; particularly outside of ERCOT
* Excellent Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Skills
* Ability to develop and prepare analysis & recommendations, especially when hard data is incomplete or unavailable
* Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work comfortably with all levels of business to include management and leadership
* Ability to build a high level of credibility with internal business partners and customers
