Job Description

Custom is seeking a Cisco Systems Engineer to be a part of our growing team dedicated to providing an "unmatched client experience" in all areas of service delivery.

Custom's engineering team is a close-knit, diverse group of qualified Systems Engineers, Associate System Engineers and Technicians dedicated to delivering quality IT projects. The team holds advance certifications in Cisco, Microsoft, Genetec, Microsoft, and VMware.

Our team of Systems Engineers are responsible for creating and delivering technology solutions for our clients. This position involves significant customer interaction and requires strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. We are looking for detailed oriented Engineers that take pride in their work, and look to grow within the organization.

The ideal candidate will have 2+ years' experience with a system integrator implementing Cisco networks, general server knowledge and video surveillance experience a plus.

This position is based in Hauppauge, NY.

Responsibilities:

* Work alongside Custom's engineering teams on implementation projects for our Education clients.
* Configuring, installing and troubleshooting Infrastructure/Wireless/Video Surveillance Networks
* Ability to read and update CAD floor plans
* Clear understanding of network designs
* Accurately understand and document client environment pre and post project designs
* Work directly with Clients during deployments to meet or exceed client satisfaction
* Provide documented summations of work assignments including client sign off, punch lists and resolutions

Qualifications:

* CCNA certification
* Understanding of fundamentals of networking concepts
* Hands on experience with Local Area Network (LAN) & Wireless LAN
* Basic knowledge of IP Networking Protocol
* Knowledge and hands on experience with physical network connectivity
* Knowledge of Cat 5/6 cable and fiber cable technologies and connections
* Knowledge of Cisco network devices, including switches, PIX firewall/ASAs, wireless controllers, and access points
* Knowledge and experience with installing and configuring of Cisco and or Aruba wireless controllers and access points
* Experience installing and configuring cisco Switches
* Ability to identify and have hands on experience with Cisco network devices - Servers (IBM, HP, DELL), routers) etc.
* Hands on experience in upgrading and downgrading IOS images on Cisco devices
* Ability to create Cisco / network equipment list based on technical needs
* Must be able to document network integration changes and updates
* Effective communicator with the ability to effectively communicate with team mates and clients
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Skilled with organization, decision making and time management
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred (not required)

* MCSE, or any other industry certifications
* Hands on experience with Genetec Omnicast or Security Center
* Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software problems
