Artificial intelligence and machine learning play a critical role in this, and we are looking for a Director, Chief Scientist to lead our artificial intelligence and machine learning practice.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Develop and manage a portfolio of AI/ML experiments that lead to disruptive new growth businesses within and outside SVB.


* Bring state-of-the-art machine learning principles to lines of business throughout SVB


* Establish AI/ML center of excellence for the bank


* Lower the cost and increase the speed of bank processes through automation and predictive modelling with AI/ML


* Develop SVB's outreach in the AI/ML world


* Lead SVB's effort to secure great AI/ML talent


* Help educate SVB on how to best leverage AI/ML technologies to accelerate growth, innovate in the business, and manage disruption


* 10 years industry experience working on AI/ML
* Experience working at a startup highly preferred


* Embodies an entrepreneurial spirit to acquire the experience and resources needed to execute on one's vision


* Ability to envision and execute on disruptive new applications of AI/ML principles and methodologies.


* Operates with a demeanor that is engaging across the professional spectrum


* End to end experience with leading projects from initial concept to fulfillment at scale while maintaining alignment to business objectives


* Understands how to build, utilize and roll out data systems, products, and services
