Job Title: Carrier Graduate Hire Program- Data Analytics Engineer

Carrier is a leading provider of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, building controls and automation, and fire and security systems leading to safer, smarter, sustainable and high-performance buildings.

If you're a current student or a recent graduate in Engineering or Computer Science you may be eligible for Carrier's Graduate Hire Program. We are accepting applications for our 2019 program. The cohort starts in June and applicants must have received their degree prior to cohort start date. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas within the skills of the future- Cyber Security, Data Analytics, Embedded Systems, Model Based Development, Software, Systems and UI Development. Carrier's Graduate Hire Program provides a hands-on engineering experience in a supported, closely mentored cohort. Associates of the Graduate Hire Program will obtain career development opportunities, exposure to leadership and will develop a strong professional network. The goal of the Carrier Graduate Hire Program is to help early career professionals become productive and successful engineers within the one year development program.

Job Description

We are looking for a visionary that strives to improve quality and enjoys being creative, a hands-on person responsible to help resolve customer concerns by gaining insights into building and equipment operation through the analysis of building system and transportation refrigeration data through the application of standard data analysis software libraries and tools. The outcome of the analysis will be to create actionable information that can result in innovative solutions that improve operational efficiencies, anticipate equipment maintenance needs, enhance customer experiences, or improve building occupant and food safety.

You'll be working with engineering teams across the global organization to create solutions for a diverse portfolio of new customer application projects utilizing the full spectrum of available Carrier commercial products.

Responsibilities for this position will be:

* Help identify and apply appropriate algorithms and tools to discover patterns.
* Develop and perform experimental design approaches to validate findings or test hypotheses.
* Develop and deploy software required to successfully execute a data analysis project.
* Present and depict the rationale of the findings in easy to understand terms for the business.
* You'll be working with building system domain experts and customers to assess needs and solve problems through data analytics and associated technologies in an agile manner.

Experience/Qualifications

* Minimum one year of big data experience with multiple programming languages and technologies.
* Experience with application development using several high level programming languages: Python, R, C++, JAVA, Javascript.
* You should possess a strong background in Math and Statistical Analysis.
* You should have strong experience in implementing mathematical algorithms and methods on a variety of computing platforms.
* Working knowledge of Hadoop based analytics; knowledge of Hbase, Hive, Mapreduce.
* Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while also able to lead multiple priorities.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal across a wide audience, and have the ability to explain technical concepts to a business audience.
* Experience working with globally distributed development teams, experience managing work being performed by 3rd party contract developers is a plus.

Education

BS degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering with a GPA of 3.2 or higher.
