Job Description

Zurich is currently searching for a Business Systems Analyst to work within our Data Management unit of Information Technology Services (ITS) out of our North American headquarters in Schaumburg, IL where she/he will be tasked with working on data management projects that support broad user groups and applications including data lake, data warehouse, and data analytics.

The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for understanding the business problem, extensive data research and analysis to help define business requirements and delivery of functional requirements. In addition, she/he formulates and defines systems scope and objectives based on both user needs and a thorough understanding of business systems requirements and supports end-to-end IT project delivery. The Business Systems Analyst will work with a broad range of internal clients including senior management, business subject matter experts, and IT development and test teams. This person may instruct, direct, and check the work of business systems analysis personnel, and acts as a team leader for projects with moderate to large budgets or of a moderate to long duration.

Additional responsibilities will include:

* Coordinating and leading activities with business owners to gather detailed requirements through interviews, documentation and facilitated working sessions
* Monitoring business decisions and managing requirements documentation and communication
* Leading analysis of requirements to determine the systems' potential and defining the impact to other business units and systems while providing input to the development effort
* Creating process models based on business requirements in order to determine the completeness of the information and process components
* Providing customers with cost/benefit analysis, risk assessment, and scope definition of proposed requirements
* Guiding users in building business case, performing impact analysis, and supporting application testing, implementation and training activities throughout the process
* Leading individual(s) or sub project tasks affecting single or multiple business and IT departments
* Evaluating project impact through consultation with the business, regulatory, information technology management, development, quality assurance, validation, and training teams
* Supporting and performing testing as necessary to ensure original requirements are met
* Mentoring team members in technology, architecture and delivery of applications

Client Internally Focused - The job's core deliverables rely on delivering service to internal clients, usually at the line manager or employee level. May involve sharing subject matter expertise to others in the organization or supporting others in their efforts to deliver on our promise.

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or Computer Science or Engineering and 8 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area

OR
* High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area

AND
* Process reengineering; LEAN/Six Sigma experience
* Experience with process modeling tools
* Insurance application system design/analysis experience
* Experience with use case development
* Experience with Rapid Application Development (RAD) tools/techniques

Preferred Qualifications:

* Understanding of MS Azure Cloud platform highly preferred
* Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP)
* Advanced Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) skills
* Consulting experience
* Experience in an analytical role on complex enterprise projects
* Knowledge of financial services industry
* In-depth knowledge of insurance business processes and processing
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills
* Strong written and verbal communication skills needed; ability to tailor approach based upon audience and message
