Job Description

This position is an opportunity to join the Macosko Lab, part of the Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research at the Broad Institute. We develop and apply new technologies in genomics to better understand the molecular and cellular underpinnings of neuropsychiatric diseases.

We are seeking a talented, independent expert in bioinformatics to help construct and maintain computational pipelines for analysis of single-cell data. Our lab's development of Slide-seq (together with the Chen Lab) is an example of the new kinds of data formats we are seeking to support with reliable, efficient software solutions. The successful candidate will have experience in next generation sequence analysis (e.g. sequence alignment, k-mer analysis, and RNA-seq pipeline construction), and computational pipeline development. As our projects involve close collaboration with experimentalists, the successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively with scientists across disciplinary boundaries.

The Stanley Center and the Broad Institute provide a vibrant research environment with close links to MIT, Harvard and the Harvard-affiliated hospitals across Boston. Being a member of our team will provide the opportunity for your contributions to be utilized and recognized across the vast global network of researchers in the fields of genomics and psychiatric disease research.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

* Collaborate with experimentalists and computational biologists to develop and apply statistical and computational techniques to novel data formats
* Create scientifically rigorous visualizations, communications, and presentations of results
* Contribute to generation of protocols, publications, and intellectual property
* Maintain and organize computational infrastructure and resources

REQUIREMENTS

* BS with 4+ years of related experience
* Practical experience with existing bioinformatics analysis tools, methods, and databases is essential
* Practical experience with scientific computing tools (e.g., R)
