Job Description

Spotify is looking for a Backend Engineer to join our Royalties and Reporting (RoaR) engineering organization. We are building microservices and pipelines to process this "big data" and generate reports our Accounting team uses to confirm that correct payments are being made or flag inconsistencies in actionable ways.

In addition to the underlying data pipelines, we are also building internal and external portals to present this information to stakeholders and licensors. Our core mission is streamlining workflows and automating repetitive tasks, enabling our team and external partners to more easily exchange data and gain insight into claims. If you're passionate about solving complex issues though simple dashboards and workflows, you would be a great fit for our team.

Our tech stack currently emcompases Google Cloud Platform, Java, Scala, Python, BigQuery, Postgres, and Pub/Sub messaging, along with evaluating emerging technologies and frameworks that will allow us to do more, faster with the large dataset we work with.

What you'll do

* Be a technical leader and valued contributor in an autonomous, cross-functional agile team.
* Coordinate technical projects across teams within Spotify.
* Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to determine how to scalably design backend systems and APIs to meet their needs.
* Coordinate technical projects across teams within Spotify.
* Work with data engineers to build and maintain batch and real-time data pipelines with data processing frameworks and Google Cloud Platform.
* Be a leader of the Spotify-wide backend developer community, affecting and driving our architecture across the company.
* Hack on what you want during regular hack days and bi-annual hack weeks.

Who you are

* You are an experienced technical leader.
* You have a deep understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms.
* You have experience working directly with stakeholders to understand, document and develop APIs and systems to meet their requirements.
* You know how to write distributed, high-volume services, ideally in Java, Scala, and Python.
* You are interested in big data processing technologies.
* You care about quality and you know what it means to ship high quality code.
* You are willing to work from our awesome office in New York. We offer relocation packages if you do not currently live in New York.

We are proud to foster a workplace free from discrimination. We strongly believe that diversity of experience, perspectives, and background will lead to a better environment for our employees and a better product for our users and our creators. This is something we value deeply and we encourage everyone to come be a part of changing the way the world listens to music.
