Position Overview

Align seeks a knowledgeable and motivated Systems Engineer with strong Microsoft Server, Azure, Ansible and VMware experience experience to join our growing Workplace Technology team. The ideal candidate will have experience administering, implementing and supporting client-server systems. Solid Microsoft Server and VMware Engineering experience are required. This position is responsible for engineering, deployment and support and maintenance of distributed systems and servers.

* This position will be based out of New York City office but will require work to be regularly performed at client locations throughout the New York metropolitan area

Responsibilities

* The primary focus of this role will be systems engineering and advanced troubleshooting of Microsoft distributed systems, as well as some project support as needed
* Build, test, and maintain Windows-based hardware and software infrastructure components as needed
* Use Ansible for software provisioning, configuration management, and application deployment
* Use Terraform to define and provision a datacenter infrastructure
* Management of Tidal jobs related to SQL Server and their interaction with various Data Driven Applications
* Daily creation of PowerShell scripts for use by various other IT groups/teams to gather Application related information including Performance, Completion, etc.
* Write PowerShell scripts that assisted in the Process Management of generating reports from SQL Server and integration in Cognos
* Wrote Python scripts that assisted in the cleanup of old archive data on LAMP servers
* Identity Management through Courion including adding groups, and modifying entries at the SQL Server level when processes would break
* Administration of SQL Server environment for the Platform Services Team
* Administration of Active Directory specifically through PowerShell specifically modifying user account information, group memberships, OU management, etc.
* Administer VMware vSphere clusters
* Administer Azure and Office 365 tenants
* Respond to post-project technical support calls that are escalated from NOC center and service desks.
* Solve problems related to installation, implementation, maintenance, and operations of hardware and software and related infrastructure components.
* Install, upgrade, and remove applications.
* Follow predefined operating procedures to ensure that clients, systems, and information are properly followed.
* Perform direct follow-up with clients regarding remediation where appropriate.
* Interface with other elements of the client support structure including tracking client issues, updating client tickets and ensuring closure.
* Document all policies, procedures, and standards around the build and continuing operation of servers and systems.
* Virtual desktop support and maintenance as needed.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in computer science, information systems, electrical engineering, or a related technical discipline is desired.
* Over four years of in-depth support experience and a solid general understanding of Microsoft Windows Architecture - SQL Server, Windows Servers, Active Directory (AD), Office 365, Azure and Exchange.
* Must be familiar with Ansible for software provisioning, configuration management, and application deployment
* Must have experience with Terraform to define and provision a datacenter infrastructure
* Must have strong knowledge of Public cloud automation (AWS/Azure), Desired State Configuration (DCS), and Container orchestration
* General knowledge of system management best practices.
* Experience managing servers in large corporate environments including security, security policy compliance.
* Experience with diverse hardware platforms (Cisco, Dell, HP, and IBM).
* General understanding of supporting technologies: TCP/IP, IIS, WINS/DHCP/DNS, Anti-Virus, systems management, optimization tuning, and high-availability configurations.
* Knowledge of Installation Services and Group Policy (SCCM, MDT, and Autopilot)
* Application Packaging and deployment.
* Experience with documentation for system builds, configurations, and support procedures
* Solid understanding of prevailing virtualization technologies
* Current Microsoft certification is a plus (MCSA or MCSE)
* Current VMware certification is a plus (VCA or VCP)
* Experience with ConnectWise Automate is a Plus
