About AETT

Algo and Electronic Trading Technology (AETT) is responsible for the development and support of the front office applications and systems that are used to support the Macro business globally. Systems supported are a combination of In-house development and vendor applications, using a variety of technologies. The AETT team is comprised of over 200 staff in London, New York, Tokyo, Singapore, Kiev and India.

Overall Purpose of role

* Develop Java projects for the Markets Execution department as defined by business requirements and prioritization.
* The ideal candidate will fit into the team and the current code base, make it their own, and use this as a base to be able to design and develop new components. This will include ongoing re-implementations of the existing codebase, extensions thereof and ongoing support of those systems.

Key Accountabilities

* Develop solutions to problems both tactical and strategic as the business requires it.
* Work closely with the business users to understand requirements and deliver high quality solutions
* Provide estimates for tasks, including design, development and testing
* Extend and support the low-latency system to meet the business requirements
* The role involves interacting with senior IT and business personnel at both Director and Managing Director level.
* The candidate will be able to communicate with senior stakeholders to understand their requirements and manage their expectations of delivery.
* Key stakeholders must be kept aware of the processes and procedures require for work prioritization.
* The candidate is expected to be able to propose solutions to complex problems that are in keeping with the existing system architecture.
* If an expedited solution is necessary the candidate should be able to analyse the situation and deliver rapid resolutions.
* The candidate should understand the impact a change has when defining solutions and build this into estimates.

Basic Qualifications

* 5 years excellent Java programming skills.
* 5 years Experience with messaging middleware technologies and databases.
* 5-10 years experience in developing low-latency trading systems
* 4 year degree - e.g. computer science, math, physics, engineering.
* 3 years experience full-lifecycle development of at least 1 large commercial system, with ideal candidate focusing on significant development of high-frequency trading or pricing systems

Preferred Qualifications

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* A team player who takes initiative and can influence the development of the system.
* Experience of low latency systems.
* Banking experience
* Knowledge of KDB
* Excellent academic record
