Job Description

Basic Function

Responsible for daily operation and support of the City's Enterprise Solutions Audio/video systems, documentation of technical application software processes and end-user training where appropriate. Primary administrator for audio/video systems and general desktop support. Provide customer service to staff and management. Responsible for maintaining conference rooms, broadcast booth, audio video equipment and providing onsite troubleshooting and repair. The Audio Video Technician regularly works 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. or on call as necessary to provide after hours support.

Essential Job Functions

* Perform routine preventative maintenance checks and services to assigned audiovisual systems (service contracted customers) including software/firmware updates, as needed.
* Test and evaluate performance of video conference systems over ISDN (H.320) and IP (H.323) networks, including local camera and presentation source routing and control, and acoustic echo cancelation.
* Provides backup support to IS staff.
* Provides level one and two technical support for end users (internal and external) for computer software application support issues.
* Security camera administrator and technician.
* Participates in system training sessions in conjunction with Human Resources as part of new employee orientation.
* Prepare and maintain the Enterprise Solutions Training manual for all departments.
* Maintains computerized work order tracking system for all service and support calls made to the department.
* Performs upgrades to PC operating system and desktop application software as required.
* Enhances knowledge related to field through educational opportunities.
* Operates and maintains equipment for audio and video City staff use.
* Fulfills any audio or video related Open Records Requests in accordance with the law.
* Coordinates with maintenance vendors to maintain audio and video software and hardware.
* Develops and reviews acquisition and implementation of new or upgraded audio and video equipment.
* Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.
* Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Education / Experience

The Audio Video Technician requires a Bachelor's Degree in Audio or Video Production, Information Systems, or related field. Additional desirable qualifications include Microsoft certifications (MCAS or MOS expert) and Certified Technology Specialist (CTS). Employee must have excellent technical background with experience in PC software support. The Audio Video Technician must have two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in AV, PC software support, administration of multiple computer/software systems, or a related field(s). A current Texas driver's license and a good driving record are also required.

Skills/Abilities

Employee must possess a strong command of the English language and the ability to communicate in a business-like manner both orally and in writing. The ability to deal courteously and diplomatically with others, train end users in computer operations and communicate technical computer issues to non-technical users is necessary. The employee must also be able to climb stairs, lift up to 80 pounds and maneuver as necessary to install equipment in server racks, run network cables (in ceiling, under floors, etc.), and install office equipment (computer, monitor, phone, printer, scanner, etc.) on location and the ability to perform as backup to IS resources and work after hours on-call unassisted.

Physical Requirements

While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to perform light to medium work that involves walking or standing virtually all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or considerable skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances or limits of accuracy, and ability to hear and talk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Performing the essential functions of this position, there will be routine and frequent exposure to electrical shock and heights and other hazards in the course of performing essential job functions.

Knowledge

Complete and thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 suite of products, wireless technologies, networking, and control systems. Employee must also have working knowledge of PC hardware and software operating systems. Employee must have working knowledge of Project administration and management, customer service management, and database development.
