Description

Associate Software Engineer

The Learning Services team is searching for an exceptional Associate Software Developer who has passion for your craft and a hunger to learn.

We are looking for someone that will contribute to the team by crafting top-notch code, refining requirements, executing comprehensive developer testing, and otherwise supporting, maintaining, and helping monitor our production environments. This includes fixing defects and performing troubleshooting tasks for customer issues. You will develop new features for one of Pearson's top mainstream products. Strong analytical and problem solving skills are crucial, as well as strong teamwork values.

Essential Responsibilities include:

* Work with analysts, developers and SQE to define and refine development requirements.


* Contribute an an Agile team member toward defining and achieving iteration goals.


* Support existing software and customer infrastructure.


* Design and develop robust, commercial-quality product solutions.


* Plan and communicate effectively.


* Demonstrate a passion for software development and high quality code.


* Show a desire and ability to learn new techniques and share knowledge in a small-team environment.


* Participate in build and delivery activities across the full range of the development cycle.



Qualifications

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities to be Successful in this Role include:

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; advanced degree preferred.


* Solid Java and web development skills; cloud, node.js and Spring are an additional plus!


* Working knowledge and understanding of Agile development methodologies.


* Working knowledge and understanding of modern devops techniques and processes.


* Ability to work in a quick paced, dynamic environment.


* Excellent communication skills - written and verbal.


* Desire to learn and a need to excel!


* Experience with online educational applications is an extra plus!
