We are seeking an exceptional software developer join the Cancer Data Science group to build tools and portals. These tools and portals are essential to maximize the impact of the work we do by unlocking data sets for analysis by the world wide research community.

In the Cancer Data Science group, we leverage data science approaches to understand cancer biology and support translational efforts. We work in the intersection of statistics, machine learning, computer science and biology. This intersection results in many intellectual and technical challenges which can only be overcome by leveraging the diverse expertise of our team.

Join our software developers embedded within the Cancer Data Science group to help build a the Cancer Dependency Map ( https://depmap.org ) portal and enable researchers around the world to explore these data, find novel insights and advance their work in the pursuit of fighting cancer.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Responsible for the detailed design of modules and multiple object oriented classes,
* Integrating suggestions of other engineers
* Proactively identifies obstacles or problems, recommends improvements, validates and
* Communicates code risk assessments to manager and other team members
* Analyzes requirements for a specific assignment
* Develops functionality (Primarily using Python, Typescript, Flask and React)
* Maintains, upgrades, fixes and reviews product source codes
* Identifies priorities and evaluates different approaches to completing assigned tasks
* Effectively communicates the technical approach on assigned task(s) and the result(s) with peers and manager

REQUIREMENTS

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
* 2 years of software development experience preferred
* Proficient in widely-used programming languages and operating systems.
* Experience with statistics and/or machine learning a strong plus
* A background in biology not required, but at minimum candidates should have an interest in the life sciences.
