The Role

You will consult, analyze and deliver application development assignments for the Correspondence Team within Group Protection IT Customer Implementation Services. You will work in an agile sprint fashion, delivering correspondence requests and providing post production support. Responsibilities

* Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) of responsibility, assesses the impact, and collaborates with team to incorporate new trends and developments in solutions.
* Champions and enhances organizational initiatives and process improvements by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
* Identifies and recommends process improvements that reduce workloads or improve quality for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
* Analyzes, designs, codes, tests, integrates, and implements software application solutions.
* Documents programs and procedures.
* Defines detailed development tasks, task dependencies and estimates to complete work.
* Proactively identifies, investigates, and resolves problems including providing support for production systems.
* Collaborates with internal stakeholders and IT to develop and understand requirements and expectations to achieve quality technical solutions.
* Participates in the requirements, design and coding walkthroughs to ensure the development of quality solutions.

Education

* 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Technology or Computer Engineering or equivalent work experience (Minimum Required)

Experience

* 1 - 3+ years experience in application development that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position
* Proficient in software engineering languages and tools; ability to develop on multiple platforms
* Experience working with Oracle Documaker is a plus
* Java experience is preferred
* Experience with SQL - Oracle, Sybase, & MSSQL
* General knowledge of the following is a plus: Docker, Git, SQL Stored Procedures, SSIS, Access VBA, Microsoft Team Foundation Server, Subversion
* Basic understanding of Unix/Linux commands
* Experience with Atlassian suite (Jira, Bamboo, Confluence, Tomcat, Crucible) is a plus
* Familiarity with dependency and build management tools (eg. Maven, Gradle)
* Experience with layered system architectures and layered solutions; understanding of shared software concepts
* Experience with Unit Testing frameworks (eg. JUnit)
* Familiarity with CI/CD Methodologies & Tooling (eg. Jenkins)
* Experience with agile software development is a plus
* General understanding of new and emerging technologies including open-source
* Excellent communication, collaboration, and analytical skills
* General knowledge of Group Protection business is a benefit but not required
