Position:

We are looking for someone who strives to make everything more efficiently via automation to join our team in Brooklyn at the United Technologies Digital Accelerator as Associate Director of Tech Ops. Come join a small and focused team to help deliver new digital experiences for the aerospace industry.

You will support our businesses via their digital acceleration and transformation initiatives to deliver strategic solutions and ongoing enhancements to business systems supporting software development and operations at the Digital Accelerator. Your and your team's focus will be on simplifying, providing visibility into and helping to automate how software is built and operationalized at the Digital Accelerator.

Your experience as key contributor at an industry-leading DevOps team is a requirement, as is a history of improving the efficiency and automation of software delivery and operating platforms. You are a self-starter capable of working in a fast-pace environment; have experience leading teams against changing deadlines and requirements; and developing and overseeing standards and best-practices.

In this role, you will work with a multi-disciplinary team including UX, product, project management, data science, and engineering to build highly automated operational environments that support the lifecycle of digital services.

What You'll Do

* Serve as the Digital Accelerator's point of contact for DevOps needs.
* Lead a team of DevOps engineers to build and deploy automated software deployment pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, configuration management, and monitoring tools.
* Lead the design and execution of plans for server management and software systems operations.
* Drive technical decisions at the organizational level and manage vendor SOWs and SLAs.
* Provide strategic direction and support for initiatives related to DevOps toolchain services and software operations.
* Work across a diverse set of stakeholders to understand unique team needs and devise creative solutions that help increase the velocity of software delivery.

Qualifications

* Experience leading and managing complex, large scale, IT/technical/engineering initiatives.
* Experience utilizing cloud services and solutions.
* Deep understanding of software development/engineering lifecycle from conception to delivery.
* Experience overseeing technology infrastructure projects (IoT, networks, storage etc.).
* Prior experience managing large technical programs, particularly at high growth startups or Fortune 500 companies.
* Understanding of large-scale application architecture and integration patterns.
* Experience in software engineering with skills writing infrastructure-as-code with tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet.
* Complete and total aversion to any mundane, wasteful, and repetitive work.
* Ability to write great code and scripts.
* Deep understanding of Agile philosophy, continuous delivery, cloud-native and micro-service architectures.
* Solid foundation in networking, storage, and systems administration in Linux.
* Experience with Azure or AWS platforms, Kubernetes, and hypervisors.
* Experience with Test Driven and Agile environment.
