POSITION SUMMARY:

Alkermes is seeking a seasoned IT Professional with a complimentary Medical Affairs or Patient Services background for this role who is familiar with pharmaceutical operations, Medical Affairs or Patient Services and Call Center services. The IT Associate Director will be a key member of the IT team that will serve as the primary liaison for all Patient Services and Medical Affairs related IT matters and projects and will serve as the primary interface for the purpose of technology strategy development, solution discovery, service management, and relationship management. In addition, this individual will lead and manage related business and systems initiatives, from a technical perspective.

The role will be based in Waltham MA.

ESSENTIAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

* Build and foster effective relationships between the business and IT.


* Elicit, document and execute on the overall systems strategy for Patient Services and Medical Affairs.


* Work directly with the IT Veeva/ServiceCloud team to ensure the SFDC (and Veeva CRM) new capabilities are documented, reviewed, well understood and implemented.


* Support change management and governance activities by partnering with key business users to ensure new items are tested and implemented to meet the business needs.


* Work with the Director of Commercial Integration to ensure support activities are prioritized appropriately and with adequate follow-up.


* Oversee enhancements to all technology components used by the patient services organization and the medical affairs team.


* Oversee test script creation, user testing and user documentation.


* Ensure appropriate IT processes, procedures, and standards are developed, monitored and followed.


* Introduce best practice and process improvement ideas where appropriate.


* Occasionally manage projects using project management best practices and following required Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) policies.


* Serve as the conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the various managed services teams.


* Ensure adherence to HIPAA compliance, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls and FDA computer systems validation compliance.


* Elicit requirements using interviews and workshops, document analysis and business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, stories, business analysis, task and workflow analysis.


* Work closely with global and local IT infrastructure managers to ensure alignment and coordination of IT best practices for all Alkermes users.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:


* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; Project Management Institute (PMI) certification a plus.

Experience:


* Experience managing tasks within pharmaceutical/biotech industry.


* Experience working directly with Patient Services, Medical Affairs, Sales Operations, Sales Analytics, or Marketing Analytics customers.


* Hands on Experience in working with the day-to-day needs of a Patient Services and Medical Affairs organization.


* Must have a proven track record to lead a small-to-mid-sized team.


* At least 5 years' experience supporting / working with a patient call center (or equivalent) or 5 years' experience supporting / working with a medical affairs team


* Experience with cloud technologies and software vendor selections.


* Experience and good working knowledge of cloud based IVR phone systems.


* Demonstrated ability to manage several complex deliverables at the same time.

Technical Knowledge/Skills Needed:


* Demonstrated management skills.


* Demonstrated business processes improvement capabilities.


* Strong understanding of patient call center concepts.


* Deep knowledge of supporting a Medical Affairs team.


* Strong analytical skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into logical data design requirements.


* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.


* Experience working with third-party partners.


* Ability to develop and analyze business requirements and functional specifications.


* Experience in commercial biotech and pharmaceutical industry.


* Knowledge of HIPAA compliance requirements.


* Strong team building skills, including facilitating group sessions and reaching consensus across multi-function teams.


* Experience with Veeva CRM and salesforce.com / ServiceCloud.
