Overview

The Assistant Manager for Learning Space Support assists the manager with the daily operations of providing audio-visual support services to the campus community. These services are provided in more than 240 classrooms, as well as for University events.  This position is responsible for ensuring that all learning space support work is properly scheduled and completed, provides guidance and technical consulting to campus users, and oversight of the learning space support team in the absence of the manager.

This position assists with job scheduling, tracking, and inventory control using the University service management system, currently ServiceNow. In addition, this position is the primary technical resource for video conferencing, independently managing, operating, and maintaining the University's video conferencing facilities.

Responsibilities

* Assist the manager in the day-to-day operations of the Learning Space Support group and respond to requests for service and customer concerns
* Coordinate job scheduling, tracking, and inventory control in ServiceNow and ensure that all group work is performed properly
* Consult with the campus community on audio-visual support for University events; evaluate the factors surrounding the staging (type of event, room size, layout, acoustics, lighting, equipment, etc.) and provide guidance for optimal presentation
* Make recommendations on AV solutions that best address customer needs
* Assist the manager assess future needs for AV installations, keeping abreast of faculty interests and the indications for classroom technology
* Manage automated room support software (currently, Globalviewer/Fusion), monitor audio-visual system installations, and provide remote support when needed
* Manage and operate technology for remote instructional delivery; use conferencing technology to enable remote presenters access to University classrooms
* Coordinate conferencing sessions, on campus and at remote conference sites, and perform test calls to ensure the conference will run without incident
* Lead Instructional Support Services neighborhood technical teams and coordinate any needed support

Qualifications

* 5 to 7 years of experience with standard and high definition video conference hardware and software
* 5 years of AV project management experience, including work on large capital projects
* In-depth knowledge of audiovisual technology and the ability to keep abreast of developments
* Extensive experience in customer service, managing all levels of customer issues
* Ability to successfully coordinate and manage all aspects of sizable or high profile video conferences
* Demonstrated track record of innovative and creative thinking
* Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to partner with a diverse customer base
* Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, respond to shifting priorities, and work efficiently under the pressure of deadlines
* Experience in outreach and partnership building; ability and desire to develop strong relationships with faculty and staff
* Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
* Excellent attention to detail
* Excellent troubleshooting skills
* Flexibility and willingness to work outside of standard hours

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience working with faculty and senior administrators in higher education
* Understanding of classroom technologies and audio-visual design in teaching spaces
* Familiarity with the University data network

Education

* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent related work experience
