Job Description

APL offers new college graduates a range of career opportunities in applied/engineering science and mathematics. As a new team member, you will work alongside the best and brightest in your field and make critical contributions to our nation's most critical challenges, right from the start.

Entry level opportunities exist in a number of technical areas including, but not limited to, the following:

Modeling and Simulation

Model, analyze, and interpret test results for guidance and navigation systems. Design high-fidelity, object-oriented system simulations and prototype decision support systems.

Defense System Testing and Analysis

Assess advanced technologies at a system and algorithm level. Collaborate with algorithm developers to determine analysis methodology and algorithm tap points. Develop analysis and development tools, building upon existing software.

Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction

Support senior level physicists in the design, implementation, and integration of equipment for radiological and nuclear threat detection, localization, and defeat to countering weapons of mass destruction (WMD).

Software Engineering

Develop complex scientific software systems from design through test and validation.

Space Physics

Design space experiments in research areas such as magnetic fields, geophysics, solar effects on the atmosphere, and planetary, comet, and asteroid samplings.

System Engineering and Analysis

Develop mathematical models for system-level evaluation and parametric definition. Develop and conduct experiments with prototype components, subsystems, and total systems.

Operations Research

Participate as a technical team member to understand the aspects of an operational community, conduct analyses, interpret results, and develop recommendations. Conduct mission related analysis and research activities.

Required qualifications

* BS, MS, or PhD in applied math, applied physics, engineering physics, or related field.
* GPA of 3.0 or higher (on 4.0 scale).
* Less than one year of full-time professional experience.
* U.S. citizenship will be required for most positions. Because government security clearance is required for most positions, selected applicants must meet eligibility requirements, which include U.S. citizenship.
