Berkeley Lights is looking for Applications Specialist to join the Technical Support Team during the next stages of growth. As a key member of the BLI Service and Support team, the Applications Support Specialist will be responsible for providing support for the global post-sales team to ensure customer success on a rapidly evolving technology platform engaged in single cell assay, single cell culture, therapeutics and Cell Line Development. The Applications Support Specialist will be responsible for optimizing and validating core workflows, developing and managing customer documentation, training the field applications team and transferring new applications to the customer base. You should have strong scientific background, great customer service skills and be comfortable with advanced lab automation equipment. This is a highly visible position that prioritizes customer success, has direct ties to top management, and is an opportunity to help found a new role for the company during a worldwide expansion!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Manage customer cases and escalations focused on applications of BLI's platforms
* Test new software & workflows on BLI's microfluidic customers before release to customers

Train Field Applications team on new applications and best practices

* Drive collaboration and communication with field staff to ensure customer success
* Drive & prioritize bug resolution and feature release with internal engineering teams
* Create and maintain customer-facing documentation: manuals, articles, technical bulletins, software/hardware release messages.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

* M.S. in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics, Biology or other multidisciplinary engineering field with exposure to biological applications
* Ability to support and troubleshoot complex electromechanical, optical, and micro/nanofluidic instrumentation using structured engineering approaches
* Familiarity with cell/tissue culture, cell-based assays, and microscopy platforms; experience in modern molecular and cell biology techniques
* Excellent collaborative, interpersonal and verbal/ written communication skills
* Experience having developed technical documentation surrounding instrumentation and life-science applications
* Ability to provide training to team members
* Ability to thrive in early stage technology development with demanding schedules and deliverables
* Willing to travel up 25% of time

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

* 2+ years of experience mentoring
* Experience having developed, created and released regulated customer-facing documentation
* Proficient data analysis skills; experience with data-mining software (e.g. Tableau, Spotfire) is desired
* Programming/ coding skills (Python, Java, MATLAB)
