Job Description

COMSOL, Inc. develops COMSOL Multiphysics, simulation software for understanding, predicting, and optimizing physics-based designs and processes in all fields of engineering, manufacturing, and scientific research. Our software is used by thousands of companies, government organizations, national labs, and universities worldwide. In keeping with our mission to sustain our position as a leader in the computer-aided engineering field, we are seeking an Applications Engineer to join our team in the Burlington, MA, office.

We are seeking individuals with degrees in engineering or physics who have a deep interest in the numerical simulation of real-world physics via state-of-the-art numerical modeling software and want to help our customer base achieve their goals. Candidates with a background in any of following areas are being sought:

* Thermal modeling
* Computational fluid dynamics
* Electromagnetics
* Solid mechanics
* Acoustics
* Electrochemistry
* Multiphysics numerical modeling

Primary Responsibilities

* Provide technical support by addressing questions, providing guidance, advice, and modeling assistance in a wide variety of application areas. In this role, you will be working together with the local and global COMSOL technical support staff.
* Teach training classes (online and in-person) to customers and potential customers. In this role, you will be mentored by a senior applications engineer.
* Produce technical content (models, technical blog posts, etc.) that demonstrate the scope, functionality, and flexibility of the COMSOL Multiphysics software product suite. In this role, you will be working with subject-matter experts within the company.
* Provide personalized product demonstrations of the COMSOL Multiphysics product suite to potential and existing customers in government, industry, and academia. In this role, you will work with the local Sales team.
* Present webinars covering specialized modeling topics that are broadcast to our worldwide audience of COMSOL Multiphysics users and potential users. In this role, you will work with the Marketing department.
* Provide technical feedback for new functionality to the Development department.
* Occasional travel (customer visits, COMSOL Days, workshops, courses, and conferences) to present on and teach new and existing users about the software and how to use it.

Requirements

* BS or MS degree in engineering or physical sciences and demonstrated experience with computational modeling.
* Business-oriented, adaptive, and outgoing personality.
* Interest in working with customers on a daily basis.
* Willingness to travel (0-5% of each month).
