POSITION SUMMARY: The Application Support Engineer role is responsible for providing technical, functional and operational support of the application suite of products used by Millennium Trust. The Engineer serves as the primary interface with operations and client service teams as well as external customers to build, maintain, and provide processes for support processes supporting MTCs application solutions. Working within a team environment, the Application Support Engineer assists in system creation, documenting how an application functions and conducts training sessions. This position is also responsible for creating and executing QA testing tasks. The ideal candidate will be creative, client focused, solutions-driven, organized, have superior prioritization skills and exceptional people skills with the ability to act effectively as a member of an engineering team in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

This role will be cross trained on Quality Assurance Testing tasks.

* Create and maintain application support documentation, including run books.
* Ensure application/system quality, integrity and performance
* Develop, articulate and document business functional and non-functional requirements
* Translate functional and non-functional requirements into testing requirements
* Read, analyze and interpret technical software requirements, specifications as well as relevant financial and/ or governmental regulations and translate them into functional/ non-functional and/ or testing requirements
* Write and execute test scripts, develop test data as needed to satisfy manual and/ or automated testing needs for project testing and/ or production defect resolution
* Work with the Help Desk, End User Computing, Development Teams as well as lines of business on projects as needed.
* Educate and train key IT, Operations and Client Services team members on new or revised/ updated products entering support.
* Provide hands-on application management for mission critical systems.
* Identify existing or potential problems, trouble shoot functional issues with applications, and provide timely resolutions and recommendations for remediation.
* Able to multitask and adapt quickly.
* Provide status and remediation process steps via clear, verbal and written means to mid and senior level management as needed.
* Assist with implementation of new software and upgrades.
* Evaluate new technologies and software solutions.
* Cross-train other team members in order to facilitate coverage.
* Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

* Bachelors degree or technical degree in Computer Science/Information Systems and/or 5 plus years equivalent work experience.
* Candidate must have at least 3 plus years of practical working experience in a Technical Client Support role or departmental support equivalent.
* Minimum 3 plus years of experience in a QA Testing or IT BA role
* Possess sound technical experience in fast-paced financial services environments.
* Understanding of MS Office Applications, including SharePoint, Visio and Project.
* Experience with document imaging solutions (Laserfiche), BPM automation (Activebatch), data transformation services (Informatica), defect and issue management systems (Jira) and form design and publication (Avoka) a plus.
* Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals.
* Ability to conduct research into technical and software issues and products as required.
* Strong analytical skills, follow-up capability, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast paced, high-pressure environment.
* Ability to use strong interpersonal and presentation skills to share ideas, solutions, and build strong working partnerships with business units including non-technical users, technical leads and developers.
* Highly self-motivated and self-directed. Must possess strong skills in personal diplomacy and customer service and consistently demonstrate a high level of motivation, commitment to teamwork, professionalism and trustworthiness.
* Keen attention to detail.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

* Experience in a high availability environment preferred.
* Should be familiar with modern SDLC methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.) and understand how and where both QA and Testing and Application Support fit in
* Ability to read and interpret both HTML and XML
* Basic SQL Skills are a plus
* Some experience with automated testing tools and modern scripting languages is preferred
* Knowledge of ITIL/ITSM practices and framework.
* Technical certifications such as, Certified SCRUM Master, CAST, ISTQB, and CSTE a plus

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

* Infrequent travel; may need own transportation from time to time.
* Ability to work occasional overtime as well as weekends.
