DESCRIPTION OF POSITION The Application Specialist acts as a liaison between Information Technology, user departments and physicians. This includes maintaining knowledge of current regulatory requirements, including but not limited to HIPAA, ARRA, HFAP.# Plans, directs, organizes, tests, implements and controls use of software modules.# Plans, directs, organizes the design and acquisition of custom programming, and controls the training of users.# Creates, researches, and analyzes data ot readily available for complex decisions having direct impact on department or hospital operations and/or patient care.# This job description contains most of the duties and responsibilities for which an employee will be held accountable.# However, as the job evolves or changes, an employee should expect to complete other duties as assigned that are not listed here. QUALIFICATIONS # Professional/Educational Bachelors degree preferred with a major in Computer Sciences or related healthcare field. Three to five years healthcare experience preferred. Experience in working with HCIS, EHR, PACS systems, preferably Meditech, eClinical Works or AGFA. Experience in workflow analysis. Experience in training. # Personal Effective communication skills, oral and written, including customer service skills, phone skills, and report writing. Ability to analyze problems and make resolution recommendations. Possess superior human relation skills. Strong troubleshooting skills required. Excellent customer service. Able to manage small project teams. Ability to lead a workgroup including training, assigning and monitoring work. Ability to effectively manage workload including planning, organizing, prioritizing, meeting deadlines, and paying attention to detail. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
