Job Description

The IT Architect is responsible for the strategy, design, implementation and lifecycle management of the Linux and Windows server environments. The Architect will help produce the Server Roadmap for all RealPage server technologies including: OS Strategy, clustering, virtualization, cloud computing and server hardware selection. This person will play a critical role in developing and maintaining a standard for automated systems builds, system naming, group policies, disaster recovery and system maintenance. The IT Architect is responsible for implementation and oversight of sustaining technology governance processes and associated teaching and mentoring of business and IT associates in proper use of the technology and application base. This role requires critical judgment, the highest level of initiative and complex reasoning to solve technical and business issues. They will take part in the architecture review for all Microsoft and Linux platforms based applications and will be expected to provide input and feedback including recommendations on how to best implement the applications within the RealPage, Inc. infrastructure. Some of the responsibilities and tasks include but are not limited to: Lead design, development, and deployment of technical and application solutions to meet business requirements that are cost effective and sustainable. They will be expected to deliver conceptual, logical, and physical solution specifications. The IT Architect must be able to translate business requirements using complex methods and models to determine appropriate system solutions. They also will provide input into annual budget planning for technology migrations and project cost estimation.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:

* Lead design, development, and deployment of technical and application solutions to meet business requirements that are cost effective and sustainable.
* Deliver conceptual, logical, and physical solution specifications.
* Translate business requirements using complex methods and models to determine appropriate system solutions.
* Provide input into annual budget planning for technology migrations and project cost estimation.
* Research, identify, test, certify and select technology products required for solution delivery.
* Establish and implement technology migration strategies for a specific application or architecture within an IT portfolio.
* Lead technology review meetings and ensure appropriate governance processes are followed. Experience with Windows Server, .Net, IIS, SQLServer, Red Hat Linux 5.x or greater and VMWare architecture
* Experience with Networker or other Enterprise backup solutions
* Experience with Linux performance tuning and capacity planning
* Experience with high availability architectures and concepts
* Experience with enterprise backup/restore architectures and concepts
* Experience managing SAN-attached storage in an Red Hat environment
* Experience with disaster recovery planning, implementation, and execution
* Project management experience
* Experience writing and debugging shell scripts
* Experience with an enterprise-class monitoring tool such as SCOM or Nagios
* Support and update BCP Disaster Recovery Plan.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Enterprise architectural experience with MS Windows and RedHat Enterprise Linux, including OS internals, systems management solutions and integration of cross platform technologies.
* In depth knowledge of x86/x64 hardware architecture and relationships within storage, network and facilities framework.
* Expert technical proficiency with Microsoft Server and RHEL platforms including demonstrated ability to design and implement highly automated and standardized deployment, support and configuration management strategies.
* Design experience with distributed applications: IIS, .NET, SQLServer, PHP, Tomcat, Apache, LAMP, MySql, Oracle, PostGres and other approaches involving converged infrastructure with shared services.
* Comprehensive understanding of systems, applications, and/or networks so that practical solutions can be provided that factor in system performance, usability, quality, cross-system interdependencies, scalability and overall cost to develop and maintain.
* This position requires strong problem solving and analytical aptitude with excellent oral and written communication skills.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES

* Education: B.S./B.A. in computer science, engineering, information systems preferred, and/or 7-10 years equivalent formal training or work experience.
* Expert technical proficiency in most of the following: SaaS applications, Windows platform, UNIX platforms, JAVA, J2EE, Relational Databases, Application Servers, ESB Technologies, Networking (Voice, LAN, WAN).
* Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
* Strong oral and written communications skills.
