Overview

Bio-Rad is on a multi-year journey to transform its Analytics team. We are starting to combine traditional datawarehouse reporting and dashboarding with capabilities in advanced analytics. We are looking for an Analytics Operations Manager who will oversee the DevOps and Production Support teams. You will assume a key role in the day-to-day operations of the Analytics team within Bio-Rad's Global IT Department.

You will be responsible for managing teams at our main location as well as offshore. Your teams deliver assigned projects, manage any on-call escalation, and are accountable for the efficient management of related incidents and service requests. In addition, you will work closely with IT strategy, enterprise architecture, ERP, cloud and data science technology groups to develop processes and operating procedures: monitor and triage problems, support the technology roadmap and address technology debt.

We are looking for a self-starter who is comfortable working in a high pace culture and demonstrates the ability to work efficiently and quickly in supporting business critical systems. This role provides the motivated candidate with the ability to leverage existing skills and experience in traditional data warehouse technology and procedures, or other related IT operational roles while quickly becoming expert in deploying the latest cloud based technologies on use cases for Machine learning, predictive analytics and AI.

Responsibilities

* Hands-on technical leadership for SAP BW and Business Objects, Azure Data Lake (including PowerBI, etc.)
* Resolve operational issues by determining root cause and appropriate long term solution.
* Manage team talent via recruitment/development of high performing team members, setting clear expectations for and providing timely feedback on individual and team performance, and taking corrective action when necessary.
* Oversee and ensure the integrity of production systems on a day-to-day basis to ensure uninterrupted services.
* Manage the built-out of our cloud based Hadoop data lake and datawarehouse.
* Automate and evolve infrastructure, server, deployment strategies and testing to support quick turnaround of break/fix, enhancements and deployments.
* Implement operational KPI's within the monitoring framework.
* Maintain the Development, Test, QA and Production Environment with regards to upkeep of application functionality.
* Oversee code installations working with development and Quality Assurance to monitor and validate successful implementation or fallback.
* Participate in Production Support activities during incidents and outages both with onsite as well as off-shore resources.
* Excellent problem solving skills capable of resolving technical issues and making recommendations for performance and capacity improvements
* Continuously improve our operational quality and efficiency in order to deliver requirements faster and with high quality.
* Perform capacity planning both personnel and technical, tuning systems stability, provisioning, performance, and scaling of the application infrastructure.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree required in computer science, engineering or a related technology discipline.
* 7 years of experience in Business Analytics application development and production support or related operational IT role.
* Experience leading a geographically diverse production support team.
* Experience in SAP Business Warehouse and Business Objects.
* Experience in relational database management, ETL tools and related monitoring tools and best practices.
* Must have full life-cycle development experience in a technology driven environment.
* Experience in Agile and DevOps environments and cultures.
* Experienced working in an Internet and distributed client server environment, including strong understanding of multi-tier architecture and infrastructure setups.
* Experience with Automation Deployment and Automation Pipeline.
* Experience supporting production environments and providing Root Cause Analysis and Resolution.
* Exceptional leadership skills and ability to motivate and coach employees to perform at peak standards.
* Ability to influence and lead technical conversations with varied IT support groups.

Preferred:

* Experience transitioning teams to an Agile Framework is a definite plus.
* Experience in Cloud based technology, IAAS, PAAS, SAAS.
* Experience with Big Data concepts, operationalizing advanced analytics use cases.
* Experience working with Big Data (Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Kafka).
