Background

The IDB INVEST, a member of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Group, is a multilateral organization based in Washington, D.C., that is committed to the development of Latin America and the Caribbean through the private sector.

IDB INVEST is implementing a software solution to support and automate the management of the operational life cycle in Maestro system. This project is using information technology to facilitate the definition of a process framework to measure and monitor day-to-day business processes for continuous improvement and efficiency. IDB INVEST operational systems have been developed using a BPM tool that includes process modeling, process simulation, process repositories, workflow, integration, reporting, and other technologies.

Consultancy objective

We are looking for a DevOps Analyst to join our organization and help us improve our deployment process and operating system. The candidate will have a strong background in software engineering and will rely on DevOps tools to improve the development team's production. This position will also allow you to innovate our systems, practices and processes.

Main activities

The selected candidate will:

* Strong system administration (Linux/Unix or Windows) at the command-line level.
* Strong scripting skillset.
* Design and implement build, deployment, and configuration management
* Multi-tier architectures: load balancers, caching, web servers, application servers, databases, and networking.
* Understanding of cloud security best practices.
* Experience with templates and other configurable items to enable automation.
* Familiarity with deployment techniques (and tools) in a distributed environment.
* Basic monitoring techniques in a dynamic environment.
* Design of self-healing and fault-tolerant services.
* Understanding of stateless and loosely coupled distributed applications.
* Familiarity developing with RESTful API interfaces.
* Basic understanding of relational and non-relational databases.
* Familiarity with messaging and queuing services.
* Infrastructure as Code: design and security, configuration management, integration, deployment, performance monitoring and tuning, automation of infrastructure.
* Build and test automation tools for infrastructure provisioning
* Handle code deployments in all environments
* Monitor metrics and develop ways to improve
* Provide technical guidance and educate team members and coworkers on development and operations
* Brainstorm for new ideas and ways to improvement development delivery
* Build, maintain, and monitor configuration standards
* Implement automation tools and frameworks (CI/CD pipelines).
* Manage CI and CD tools with team
* Strong command of software-automation production systems (Jenkins and Selenium)
* Working knowledge of Ruby or Python and known DevOps tools like Git and GitHu.

Qualifications

* Academic Degree/ Level & Years of Professional Work Experience: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Computer Sciences or related field, Master's degree is a plus. At least 2 years of experience in business process analysis and design.
* Languages: English and Spanish.
* Areas of Expertise: Web development and scripting. Oracle BPM/SOA, Spring framework, Java EE 5/6/7
* Skills:
* Previous experience with software development, infrastructure development, or development and operations
* Experience with Linux infrastructures, database SQL (MS SQL), CI/CD tools, scripting such as JavaScript, PHP, Python, Perl, Ruby, .NET, Scrum/Kanban/SAFe, Agile workflow methodologies
* Up-to-date on latest industry trends; able to articulate trends and potential clearly and confidently
* Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management
* Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently

Payment and Conditions: Compensation will be determined in accordance with IDB INVEST's policies and procedures. The IDB INVEST, pursuant to applicable policies, may contribute toward travel and moving expenses. In addition, candidates must be citizens of a Corporation member country.

Visa and Work Permit: The IDB INVEST, pursuant to applicable policies, may submit a visa request to the applicable immigration authorities; however, the granting of the visa is at the discretion of the immigration authorities. Notwithstanding, it is the responsibility of the candidate to obtain the necessary visa or work permits required by the authorities of the country (ies) in which the services will be rendered to the IDB INVEST. If a candidate cannot obtain a visa or work permit to render services to the IDB INVEST, the contractual offer will be rescinded.

Consanguinity: Pursuant to applicable IDB INVEST policy, candidates with relatives (including the fourth degree of consanguinity and the second degree of affinity, including spouse) working for the IDB INVEST as staff members or Complementary Workforce contractuals, will not be eligible to provide services for the IDB INVEST.
