Job Description

PDT has multiple strategies which make investment and execution decisions automatically, algorithmically. Our Technical and Trading Operations team manages our production plant and runs our global real-time trading business around the clock from New York City.

We are seeking Algorithmic Trading Operations Specialists to join our Operations team. In this role, you will work collaboratively with fellow team members as well as technologists, risk managers, and portfolio managers to oversee both our trading and technology and respond to alerts and other signs of irregular activity. This will ordinarily be during Asia hours, but will periodically rotate onto US and Europe shifts as coverage deems necessary. You should thrive on the sense of urgency and quick problem-solving required in such an environment. You should also be relentless in driving continual improvement in our processes and tools, making us more efficient and resilient.

Given the hybrid nature of the role, excellent candidates will likely have deeper skills and experience in either trading or technology, but should have aptitude and interest in the other. This role offers a unique opportunity to be at the center of a leading quantitative trading firm with exposure to many parts of the business and a crucial role in helping them fit together.

This job's responsibilities are bifurcated into two branches:

Trading: You will be on the desk during the trading day, looking out for any unusual behavior in our algo trading while keeping tabs on market activity, and monitoring our risk and portfolios. You will work closely with internal PDT teams as well as external trading counterparties to troubleshoot, using your judgement to resolve any trading related issues.

* Ensure trading adheres to risk and trading limits
* Prepare for and respond to market events, corporate actions, and regulatory changes.
* Monitor and guide the successful execution of algo trading, rolls, and hedging.
* Support post-trade activities to aid effective clearing and accurate record-keeping.
* Provide market and trading analysis, proactively investigating new opportunities and providing recommendations.
* Help launch new strategies and models.
* Define requirements for and help develop tools, dashboards, and automation.

Technology: You will guide our systems through pre-market activities, real-time trade execution, and post-session processing, in a fast-paced environment that requires focus, judgment, and quick reflexes. You'll utilize your strong technical skills to diagnose and address issues in real-time, and also have the opportunity to build tools and automation to improve PDT's operational capabilities.

* Monitor our technical infrastructure to identify, prevent, and respond to potential issues.
* Triage outages and order problems, working with internal and external groups to resolve incidents.
* Assist in the deployment and verification of upgrades to our production environment's technical infrastructure, custom trading applications, market data distribution plant, etc.
* Support post-trade activities to aid effective clearing and accurate record-keeping.
* Improve existing tools, automate processes, and build new detective controls to allow us to find and respond to ever subtler and more complex issues algorithmically.

Why join us? PDT Partners has a stellar twenty-four-year track record and a reputation for excellence. Our goal is to be the best quantitative investment manager in the world-measured by the quality of our products, not their size. PDT's extremely high employee-retention rate speaks for itself. Our people are intellectually exceptional and our community is close-knit, down-to-earth, and diverse.

Qualifications:

* 2+ years of relevant professional experience.
* Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, particularly in fast paced, high-pressure environments.
* Exposure to and interest in financial markets, trading vehicles, news, data, and related systems.
* Experience with large, complex, and high-performance computer systems.
* Experience with the following: UNIX/Linux, scripting, scheduling/orchestration, networking protocols, etc.

Education:

* Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or engineering discipline from an excellent academic program.
