Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is required at time of hire. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a Polygraph within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

GDMS has an immediate opening for an experienced Advanced Systems Administrator and Information Technology Networking Specialist to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to support and enhance cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to ensure GDMS and client technologies are functioning as efficiently as possible. This position serves as the front line interface to members of a 24x7 E1 operations team. Some shiftwork may be required.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

* Support/Administer/Configure network servers, routers, switches, circuits, firewalls, intrusion prevention devices, etc.
* Able to implement/support/monitor/troubleshoot/rectify network issues on a physical and/ or virtual network as they arise.
* Manage group policies, local security policies, and government standards for: Creating, modifying, and removing user accounts
* Reports status and discrepancies in system performance in a clear and concise manner
* Assists E2 team with installing new software builds, troubleshooting, and documenting on the spot fixes to remedy issues post install
* Using a solution-oriented approach, suggest and champion system enhancements and/or workarounds to the factory baseline to improve system availability and performance.
* Performs daily system monitoring to maintain a high state of readiness.
* Write and/or review system Operational Procedures and system documentation.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

* Willingness and ability to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, and ambiguity
* Able to analyze and apply problem solving skills to identify, resolve, or escalate a diverse range of system impacting issues.
* Advanced experience with troubleshooting cross domain solutions.
* Understands how domains interrelate with other components within a closed and enterprise networking environment.
* Firm understanding of networking concepts to include routing and switching
* Understanding of configuration management practices
* Able to work with and communicate effectively with non-technical and technical audiences.
* Able to work individually or collaboratively as part of a high-performing team

PREFERRED DEGREE TYPE AND EXPERIENCE:

* 5 years of hands on experience with on one or more of the following:
* Red Hat Linux, Oracle, SQL, EMC, F5, Cisco, FPGA Cards, CISCO, Symmetricom, Trunking, and/or VLANs.


* Certifications (Vendor Training, CCNA, Security+, Network+, or A+) - with hands on expertise
* System debugging and backup
* Knowledge of satellite communication
