As an Advanced Customer Engagement Architect you will work directly with customers, field sales, delivery and product development teams to help ensure the successful incubation, adoption and enablement of VMware's SDDC solutions and services supporting key Customers.

Earning the right as a trusted advisor requires a unique blend of being polished with customers, being technically savvy, incorporating out of the box thinking, and having the ability to drive and engage multiple stakeholders to translate and communicate business requirements into a solution vision that meets the customer's business needs.

The Advanced Customer Engagement Architect must be a highly organized, thorough and motivated professional that understands the importance of being a strong team player and leader when it comes to forging a solution and liaising with customers. The role will include being a key field partner for engineering teams, working closely with customers, as well as assisting initial sales and delivery to customers who require advanced architecture designs and services. Your knowledge and experiences will also be leveraged as a part of continuous feedback loop to drive architectural best practices and tooling required to increase adoption, retention and overall customer experience.

Responsibilities:

* Work on-site with Customers and delivery teams to deploy architectures that incorporate VMware SDDC technologies. Where applicable, you will incorporate Validated Designs (VVDs) and best practices.
* Assist the Customer with financial (ROI, TCO) and business value modeling of their VMware based solution offerings
* Directly support critical customer escalations
* Deliver workshops to train customer, Partners and field on VMware Private Cloud Suite
* Act as the architectural and deep subject matter expert to deliver technical assistance for consulting engagements with customers.
* Develop and maintain technical and business expertise of cloud industry directions and trends.
* Develop and maintain technical and business expertise for VMware SDDC Suite.
* Work closely and collaboratively with Product Management and Engineering during the development and launch as well as the continuous refinement of VMware's products and solutions.
* Document best practices & architectural references for developing and deploying VMware solutions (including associated management tools - e.g., monitoring, provisioning, security and compliance, and DR).
* Collaborate with architects in the product Business Units to provide expert technical architectural support and guidance for the product incubation phase and during the development of emerging solutions and services.

Requirements:

* Minimum of 8 years in a customer-facing technical field role (Systems Engineer or Field Consultant), at least 5 years of which was as a field consultant, with extensive experience in VMware virtualization and mobility products, solutions, and services.
* Up-to-date VMware Certifications (VCP, VCAP [or VCIX], and/or VCDX)with Strong Storage Knowledge
* Experienced and credible C-suite advisor with strong customer-facing and relationship-building skills.
* Proven design and production-level (business critical) delivery to customers of large-scale/complex deployments of multi-VMware & 3rd-party product architectures .
* Direct experience designing and deploying production level large scale integration deployments.
* Demonstrated ability to provide clear, concise, and highly impactful knowledge exchange within peer communities through mentoring, workshops, direct customer engagements and official training forums.
* Demonstrated technical community leadership in capturing, developing, and sharing Intellectual Property (IP) with the community at large as well as specific individuals to raise competencies.
* "Start-up" creativity, passion and execution - enthusiasm, technical credibility without hubris, and follow-through.
* Demonstrated critical thinking and advanced troubleshooting skills and qualities
* Demonstrated experience and deep understanding of industry capabilities and trends within area of focus.
* The individual should have extensive architectural skills dealing with infrastructure solutions such as systems management and business continuity.
* Expert level knowledge of x86 operating systems, advanced networking, storage architectures and programming experience is desirable.
* Ability to see and present "the big picture" through strong listening and question-based selling skills.
* Must be effective in working both independently and in a team setting with other high performing technical architects.
* Strong consulting soft skills and tactful conflict management skills.
* Ability to uncover business challenges and develop a custom solution to solve those challenges.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are required.
* Software development and integration skills are a big plus.
* Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time.
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, related field or equivalent experience.
