Job Description
Mavenir is purpose-built to redefine mobile network economics for Communication Service Providers (CSPs). Our innovative solutions pave the way to 5G with 100% software-based, end-to-end, Cloud Native network solutions. Leveraging industry-leading firsts in VoLTE, VoWiFi, Advanced Messaging (RCS), Multi-ID, vEPC and Cloud RAN, Mavenir accelerates network transformation for more than 250+ CSP customers in over 130 countries, serving over 50% of the world's subscribers.
Role Summary
TS# 48790
Mavenir is looking for passionate and self-motived Intern engineers within its Access Products division to specify and drive research and development of virtualized RAN (vRAN) products based on its innovative virtualized platform for small cells and macro deployments. This is a great opportunity to work closely with System Engineers and an R&D team and to leverage your analytical skill to the future of cellular systems.
Ideal candidates will have a strong background in research and development, familiarity with 3GPP 5G NR and LTE standards and ecosystem and a passion for influencing development for a disruptive product and solution in a competitive marketplace.
This is a full-time, summer internship beginning approximately late May/June and ending in August.
Key Responsibilities
* Analyze and develop optimal algorithms to enhance 5G NR/LTE vRAN systems, including but not limit to PHY, MAC layers and SON.
* Create a proof of concept design, prototype, simulation result and high-level design documents.
* Present the result to a broad system engineering and research & development teams.
* System-level simulation tools development: Calibrate/validate available tools, specifically channel model implementations, following 3gpp calibration methodology.
* Design and system-level performance evaluation of channel estimation mechanisms, pre-coding/beamforming algorithms, in the DL context for both sub-6 GHz and mmWave 3gpp-NR-based systems.
* Design and system-level performance evaluation of (MAC-)scheduling algorithms, for some selected QoS requirements, in the context of both sub-6 GHz and mmWave 3gpp-NR-based system
Job Requirements
* MS Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. Ph.D. Candidate is a plus.
* Familiarity with 3GPP 5G NR and LTE standards in SON, MAC and PHY layers.
* Familiarity with NFV standards and ecosystem.
* Excellent inter-personal skills.
* Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to quickly grasp and adapt to new technologies and concepts.
Specific areas of knowledge may include:
* Machine Learning for 5G/LTE vRAN
* Specialized in Machine Learning - Neural networks: Deep Neural Networks, Recurrent Neural Network; Classification and Regression analysis: SVMs; Clustering; Hypothesis testing, Reinforcement Learning.
