Our mission is to accelerate hardware creation by making tools that increase the speed and performance of engineering and manufacturing processes for mechanical engineers, roboticists, product designers, and more.
Volition was founded by Nick Pinkston (CEO) and Jeremy Herrman (CTO) who are veteran startup founders who previously co-founded Plethora together in 2013 where they built a new kind of highly flexible automated factory to speed up the prototyping and production process for some of the top hardware companies and products in the world. They raised over $50M in venture funding, grew the business to 80+ employees, and scaled the business to many millions in annual revenue before they left to start Volition, an even more ambitious project.
We are a well-funded, seed stage, pre-product-market fit company, and though we’re early, we bring with us the experience and customers from building previous companies in this exact space - over 8000 of them who've used our products before who alone collectively spend billions of $ on what we're going to sell.
There are 7 people in our core team + 5 full-time engineering contractors. Most of our core team were hand-chosen from our past companies as the top talent we wanted to work with, and the new teammates are of equal high quality. Our team building strategy is to build an elite team of senior people and outsource the more commodity work to contractors, so our core team can focus on the highest value (and fun) parts of the problem. Our values: Mission First, Leverage, Growth Mindset, Autonomy, Tenacity, and Solidarity.
Our current product is pre-MVP and undergoing live UX testing with customers who are already excited to start using it once we get the full v1 functionality built out (by QE1 2021). Our goal is to get to Product-Market Fit by QE3 2021 and raise our Series A by the end of 2021.
We’re currently in stealth mode, so we’re not talking about our product or strategy publicly, so please reach out to us, and we’ll tell you all about it. Our profile here has a public video that will give you a taste of our broad vision to remake how humanity designs and manufactures physical products. We know this is a teaser, but trust us, it’s worth it :-)
