Whether by fate or happenstance, Dan, Eric, and Shan found each other and began to work on SnapUp, with a vision of creating a fundamentally new and better experience of shopping on mobile.

Dan and Eric began hacking together first, on a product called WishPlz, a simple web-based product tracker that let users know when prices dropped on their favorite items. Previously, Dan had built Spork, a consumer app for discovering dishes that won a Mobile World Congress Award, and Eric was the first engineering hire at StumbleUpon. Shan, previously an entrepreneur and part of the team at Lemon, met Dan and Eric while angel investing. He liked the team, the tech, and the culture so much that he wanted to join full-time rather than just investing in the company.

Together, we went through 500 Startups (batch 7), and met some awesome folks while closing an advisory round. While at 500, we began brainstorming a way to change the shopping experience on mobile and tinkering with screenshotting as a "bookmarking" mechanism. We loved the experience so much, that we decided to focus on building the tech and the product around this simple UX.

Fast forward 6 months, we launched our first version of the product, renamed SnapUp, in July. We now have a team of 9: 8 talented engineers, and closed our Seed Round. The team is distributed - 5 of us are based in SF, 2 based in our Manila office, 1 in NYC and 1 in Birmingham, UK.

We're a humble team. We like to move and iterate fast, and love to have data inform our decisions whenever possible. We like to build consensus among the team when it comes to product features and technology. We realize that we're still figuring it out and we're attacking a market that's up for grabs -- all ideas are legit, but we have to move fast to figure out what's what.

We're small and young. Each new team member makes a substantial change to the culture, so culture fit is essential. We value people that hustle, are self-motivated, and experimental. We're very strong in our engineering capabilities, but are looking to shore up our product, design and marketing skills (which is why we're here).
