    Our Story:

Rocana's three co-founders are ex-Cloudera and have deep roots in architecting and deploying big data solutions in production environments across large enterprises.

We're currently looking to build up a team of folks who want to work on distributed systems, data collection and processing, and/or data driven web applications as part of a "native" big data application we're working on.

We are a 100% distributed company, which means people can be anywhere in the United States (anywhere!) while still working for a General Catalyst - Google Ventures backed early stage enterprise technology start-up.

    Our Technology:

Rocana guides IT operators to the root cause of any problem with a rich set of data visualizations, featuring faceted search, peer comparison, swim-lane views, and component specific metrics.

These purpose built interactive visualizations are driven by an underlying analytical engine, which uses a combination of machine learning, SQL analytics, and search to crunch the data and surface events relevant to any system issues. Rocana uses SolrCloud to index all event data, SQL on Hadoop to store and query full fidelity information in long-term data stored in HDFS, and Spark for machine learning and in-memory process.

A Bit about How we Think:

We're looking for a few (more) Good Engineers! To learn more about what life at Rocana is really like, check out this blog post from one of our recent Engineering hires: New-Engineer-On-The-Block

    Culture:

Since we're 100% distributed, once every 2-3 months we plan a company-wide OnSite where we get everyone together for a week in a remote location for in-person meetings, team-building, brain-storming and lots of fun! Examples of past OnSite locations are: Keystone, CO; Napa, CA; Killington, VT; Austin, TX; and Durango, CO.

During the Napa OnSite we built bikes for a children's charity, ate amazing food prepared by a personal chef paired with local wines and went for long runs in the morning around the golf course or afternoon laps in the pool to stay in shape.

For the Kilington OnSite we brought our families for the weekend and went to Okemo for high-ropes course, roller coaster, mini-golf, zip-lining, we also went paddle boarding and canoeing on a local lake, visited the Plymouth Cheese Factory and saw the house where the 30th President, Calvin Coolidge, was sworn into office. We also hiked the Green Mountain Trail, home of the Spartan Race! Once the families went home, we spent the week talking about product, go to market, culture, marketing, world domination, etc. For team-building and fun we toured the Long Trail Brewing Company and went caving and repelling on Deers Leap (which was amazing)!

We've shared some pictures from our onsite events.....Where will we go next??? Hope you'll join us!
