Our Background

oak9 was founded in 2019 when two of our founders brought together their combined 35+ year careers in software development and security. In 2020, a 3rd member came aboard to round out our founding team. We've reached incredible milestones since those early days, including our Seed Funding in 2021 where we raised $5.9 Million with Menlo Ventures as our lead investor, onboarding our first customers, and building a brilliant team of 40+ oak9ers and counting!

What's the problem we're solving?

Security concerns have exploded with the rapid adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC). IaC has increased both the speed and scale at which developers create new cloud infrastructure, but now teams are being forced to choose between making deadlines and keeping applications secure. ​Overwhelmed and understaffed security teams can no longer keep up. ​
