Founded in the spring of 2013, Mommy Nearest has quickly become one of the fastest growing media/technology companies for parents in the United States. With a new user joining our community every three minutes, our Mommy Nearest mobile app is truly becoming the definitive mobile companion for any on-the-go parent and has been called "a Yelp for the stroller set," by Adweek. The app’s core functionality geo-locates a user and shows them the 50 closest child-friendly places for whatever they’re looking for (whether it’s a changing table for a dirty diaper, a restaurant that has high chairs or even a place to let a child run around). Places on the app are then rated and reviewed by other parents, thus layering in a level of trust. Additionally, Mommy Nearest has a robust editorial operation with over 80 writers in 10 cities and boasts a community of 1 million parents per month.
We recently did a complete overhaul of both mommynearest.com and our mobile app and believe that we are now the most prolific media/tech company in the parenting space. In 2017, we will be focusing on scale and expansion, both in markets we currently exist, as well as new markets.
In addition to the app’s user-facing core functionality, we operate a proprietary SaaS platform called Mommy Nearest for Business. This turn-key mobile marketing solution has gotten great traction for businesses trying to reach mobile parents but do not have the time or budget to build out their own mobile apps. We have over 500 partner businesses in 10 cities, including places like the San Francisco Zoo, Eloise at the Plaza, the YMCA and many more. Given that mobile advertising is an untapped $20B market and parents spend more time and money than any other demographic, we truly believe that we are in the right market and on the right medium at the right time. We’ve built out huge advantages against our competitors since none of them have built their own mobile apps, despite the fact that parents consume information on their mobile devices more so than on desktop.
We’re a closely-knit team who like to work hard but believe strongly in a work-life balance. Very rarely, if ever, do people work weekends and all employees receive a package that includes above-market salaries, company equity and full health and dental benefits. Our NYC offices are in Chelsea and in SoMa in San Francisco, but we are flexible about letting employees work from home.
