What We Do and Why We're Here

Merchbar is the marketplace for music merchandise: the one place for music fans to discover and buy merch from all of their favorite artists. We're the only place to shop over 1,000,000 products from more than 100,000 of the world's top artists from The Beatles to Justin Bieber. We built Merchbar for the billions of music fans who want authentic, top quality products and expect beautiful and simple ecommerce.

In a world of increasing political and social divides, nothing has the power to bring people together like music. We work every day to bring the magic of music from your headphones into the physical world - whether it's a flag waved at a festival, the shirt that prompts a knowing nod on the subway or the record that transports you to another world. Because at its core, music isn’t only about expression, it’s about connection.

Merchbar is a remote-first company, and we put a heavy emphasis on written communication and limited meetings. Our team is distributed across the country.

    Our Core Values

Authenticity - To strive for candor, clarity and honesty in everything we do.
Diversity - To value different perspectives and experience while working to discover and address personal and systematic biases.
Community - To develop and empower communities at every level - from individual artists to every music fan on earth.
Quality - To actively develop mastery and craftsmanship in everything we create.
Growth - To challenge and expand our comfortable limits of thought, tolerance, and performance.

    Our Interview Process

    1. A 30 minute introductory call to learn a bit about you and what you're looking for, and for us to tell you a bit about Merchbar and answer any initial questions.
    2. A 1-2 hour interview focused on your experience. We'd like to learn about past projects you've built, what you contributed, how you built them, choices you made, etc.
    3. Two 1-hour technical interviews focusing on software design questions. For example, we may describe a feature of our website and ask how you would go about implementing it.
    4. A take-home coding exercise. We've created a simple, straightforward exercise that asks you to implement real features/parts of our website and system. This exercise can be done on your own time with whatever resources you choose, and should take 2-3 hours to complete. The purpose of this exercise is to give us a sense of how you code.

We're flexible and can work around whatever timeline you may have.
