    About Jana

Jana is the Sanskrit term for "people"

Jana is the largest provider of free internet in emerging markets. Through Jana’s mCent Browser, the next billion smartphone users are coming online without incurring data charges. Jana makes all mobile content freely accessible and discoverable through technology integrated into the billing systems of 311 mobile operators and available to 4.56 billion mobile subscribers. Today, Jana has provided over 40 million emerging market users with free, ad-sponsored internet access.

Jana has a history of building Android apps that reach a large scale and audience. Our first product, mCent, reached over 50MM downloads. Our recently launched mCent Browser has grown to over 1MM monthly active users in the first 3 months, and projected to hit 5MM monthly actives by the end of the 2017. We are targeting company profitability in 2018.

Besides that, we feature a host of perks, both "traditional" (health insurance, 401K, etc.) and "startup"-type (too many to list, but trust us, you'll love them.) You'd have a blast here, while learning and growing professionally, and working toward providing free internet to 1 billion people.

Jana's Board includes Maurice Lévy (Publicis Groupe), Jon Miller (AOL / News Corp), and Esther Dyson (WPP). Global brands using Jana include: Microsoft, Google, Unilever, P&G, Johnson & Johnson, Nestlé, Danone, and General Mills.

Our company mission is to make the Internet free for the next billion. Consumers in emerging markets spend 10% of their daily wage on mobile airtime. If we can redirect half of the $200 billion currently spent on advertising in the developing world directly to the consumers our clients are trying to reach, we would be able to provide one billion people with the equivalent of a 5% raise.

More effective advertising, better insights, and more disposable income in the pockets of consumers. That’s a win for commerce in every direction.
