Homer was founded in 2014 by a group excited about logistics. We were laser focused on the idea that more and more parcels/packages were being delivered to consumers, and there needed to be an efficient infrastructure to move these items. Last mile logistics is an exciting puzzle with lots of moving pieces that intertwine operations, software development, and optimization. The team started by focusing on local deliveries being run from businesses such as grocery stores, restaurants, and liquor stores. Over the last several years, our customer base has evolved to be retailers and e-commerce partners looking to deliver packages in the same day or faster.
After developing an MVP and working with initial customers, Homer was blown away by the response to the product/service. The company continued to grow organically through the end of 2014, all the while adding customers and growing the volume of their deliveries.
From the start of 2015 through 2017, Homer's delivery volumes grew from a couple hundred deliveries per month to over 100,000 deliveries per month. This rapid growth allowed Homer to grow all of its internal teams and raise money from some of the leading venture capital groups. By the end of 2017, Homer had raised ~$15m and was leading the charge on efficient local delivery. At the end of 2017, Homer also evolved our business model on two fronts. First, we decided to focus only on retail and e-commerce partners in the same-day delivery space. Second, we determined that we could use our optimization software to compliment other delivery service providers as opposed to competing with them. Starting in 2018, Homer began brokering our smart routes for picking up and dropping off packages as opposed to running the deliveries ourselves.
Homer Logistics is now focusing on E-Commerce and Retail deliveries. We are building out systems that will allow us to quickly support our customers in major metropolitan areas around the US by the end of 2018. Homer is focused on being the industry leader in same day, last mile fulfillment methods.
