    The Future of StoryTelling is an annual summit and community platform that brings together top leaders from media, technology, and communications sectors to explore how story is changing in the digital age. Throughout the year, FoST organizes quarterly influencer salons and panels, curates technology exhibitions, creates an annual series of 15–20 short speaker films, produces a 2-day summit in New York every fall, publishes a monthly newsletter, and covers the most pertinent trends, ideas, and people in interactive media/entertainment on FoST’s blog and across its social media network (750,000 followers). The annual FoST summit is produced by Melcher Media, a leading creative content agency based in NYC’s West Village.

    There are a number of interesting opportunities available at FoST in the future as we grow, but most immediately we are looking for a Director of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships who will work closely with the FoST senior leadership to research, pitch, and develop sponsorship opportunities for the annual summit and other FoST-related events throughout the year. The Director will help set the strategy, create pitch documents, prospect for clients and sponsors, lead pitch meetings, negotiate and close deals, and then hand-off execution to a team of expert producers at both FoST and Melcher Media. This is an exciting opportunity to further the success of a fairly established start-up with a proven track record in just four years, while calling on the creative services of Melcher Media to increase the portfolio of offerings to potential clients and sponsors beyond just the branding opportunities available of the annual event. Successful candidates will have 7+ years of experience and will come with the following:

    • Proven strategy for identifying and generating new leads and partnerships;
    • Ability to navigate corporate pecking order to reach key decision-makers;
    • Exceptional writing skills and the ability to quickly generate marketing materials, decks, and brand-specific proposals;
    • Sophisticated grasp of the evolving media and communications landscape;
    • Creative, tasteful, and resourceful ideas about brand integration (pre and post summit);
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to liaise with C-level clients and partners;
    • Detailed system for organizing and tracking lead correspondence;
    • Proven ability to close sales and help draft agreements;
    • Experience with event activation for brand sponsors (both digital and onsite);
    • Ability to negotiate between brand desires and attendee experience; and
    • Strategies for post-event follow-up and continued engagement with partners.
