Who we are

Ian Ownbey and Jacob Thornton met while working at Twitter from 2008 to 2012 as engineers (where Jacob co-invented Bootstrap, one of the largest projects on Github). Jacob went on to be the first employee at Medium while Ian went to New York to lead engineering for Branch.com.

Our Story

Bumpers is a very early company that, if successful, could create a whole new media type. Using cutting edge technology in a consumer setting is something we have experience with in previous apps, and if this is something that interests you now is the perfect time to get involved. We are stable & funded with a strong network of people supporting us.

Eight months ago the Bumpers team set out to take a modern approach on podcast recording and editing. Drawing on our backgrounds from work at Twitter, Medium, other successful social platforms, we’ve built an app that allows anyone to record, edit, and publish short (3 to 7 minute) podcasts — entirely from the phone.

These short-form podcasts can be made basically anywhere. They can be created while walking, recording and editing a conversation, or at an event as the action is occurring.

We have been in testflight for the last 8 months as we have built out the initial creation and consumption experience. To see what people have already started creating go to bumpers.fm. We are looking to build the team that we launch with.
