BlaBlaCar is a successful and innovative global start-up, backed by Accel Partners, in a rapid international growth phase, with the HQ in Paris and international teams in Madrid, London, Milan, Warsaw, Hamburg, Moscow, Istanbul and New Delhi. We are creating an entirely new, people powered, transport network.
With dedicated customer service, state of the art web and mobile platforms, and a highly engaged community of users, BlaBlaCar is making road travel fun, money-saving and more efficient.

The entire Tech team is working on *nix environments, git is our best friend! To facilitate collaboration with other teams we rely on Jira and its components (Stash, Bamboo, Confluence, etc.). Our technology stack is entirely based on open source tools and continuously evolves. Our main application runs on PHP/Symfony2 with MySQL databases. ElasticSearch takes care of indexing, a very strategic component since it’s all about helping people finding the best ride. We heavily asynchronised our application, RabbitMQ is here a big help. Last but not least we use Redis and Memcached for cache, sessions, and also storage. We physically host our platform and we are rolling out a very promising hybrid architecture with Amazon AWS.

Our current challenges:
- Scaling our applications to further support BlaBlaCar’s international growth
- Migrating towards a SOA-type architecture
- Adapting our applications to local needs
- Building and expanding powerful tools for other departments
- Further improving key services like search and payment.
