The software requires consistent maintenance, continued development, and rigorous testing to achieve deliverables for application with major automotive manufacturers and their race teams.

Job Description

Ahlman Engineering is seeking an experienced software developer to join the company. This position will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting the WPF based User Interface and SQL Server Database of Ahlman Engineering’s proprietary software. Duties and responsibilities of the position include the following:

• Develop application’s WPF user interface, SQL database, and the setup invocation of the physics simulation engine
• Support the design, development, and maintenance of cloud/distributed computing
• Collaborate with the product team and implement unit testing to provide a correct, complete, reliable, and robust
implementation of software
• Support the design, development and maintenance of external API to allow end user customization, including processing before, during, and after the simulation runs
• Support OEM Driver-In-the-Loop simulator development
• Prepare detailed technical specifications on new design and enhancements
• Actively participate in design and code reviews to improve product quality
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the software development process
• Continued progression and maintenance of the software’s login validation
• Adhere to Ahlman Engineering’s system architecture definition

Required Qualifications

• BS degree or higher in Computer Science
• 3+ years of application development and implementation experience
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Knowledge and understanding of professional best practices related to the application lifecycle, from design and development to testing, implementation and production support
• Strong time management skills, including the ability to adhere to assigned prioritizations, manage expectations, meet interim and final deadlines, and thrive in a dynamic work environment
• Outstanding problem solving and decision making skills
• Effectively work in a collaborative team environment
• Extensive experience in Object Oriented Programming
• Extensive experience and knowledge implementing the MVVM pattern in WPF
• Proficient in Visual C#, C++, .NET
• Demonstrated history managing local and/or server MS SQL databases
• Experience in multi-threaded and multi-process concurrent solutions
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills
• Experience in creating concise and effective unit tests
• Ability to travel 3-4 days per month

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with version control software, i.e. Microsoft TFS
• Knowledge of MATLAB and/or Python
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure
• Experience with cloud/distributed computing
• Familiarity with motorsports and/or automotive industry
• Advanced technical writing skills
• Ability to communicate highly complex information to a broader audience
