    What is Project 101?

Project 101 is a well-funded early-stage startup in the mobile communications space. We're working on a product that will span both mobile (iPhone and Android) and Web. Our overarching goal is to make communication (and to some extent collaboration) perfectly seamless. We feel that the current model (phone, email, sms, ...) is fragmented and broken and that the market is ready for a deep re-design.

We believe that the primary path by which our goal can be realized is a highly optimized, intuitive, clean, and novel user interface and experience. We have an incredibly strong team of engineers (both front-end and back-end) and are actively looking to hire a stellar user experience and user interface designer.

What's it like at Project 101?

Project 101 is an early-stage startup, and as a result everything you work on will be directly tied to what the end user sees and touches. As an organization, we firmly believe that bureaucracy must be reduced as much as possible; we never want a logistical barrier standing between us, our users, and our product.

Since Project 101 is early-stage, we all wear many hats and sometimes do things that fall outside of our core area of expertise. At the same time though, we each have our home base where we thrive. As we're expanding our team we are looking for people who fit this description, people who have serious strengths and deep expertise but who are also able to switch roles for a day and help out.

    How we interview

As mentioned above, we're not particular fans of bureaucracy and as such we want to waste as little time as possible. If you're a good fit, we'll hire you and if you're not we'll be straight with you.

Our interviews usually start with a 30 minute phone call where we'll mostly ask you about your background and experience and maybe go through some of your portfolio. If it goes well, we'll invite you on-site for an in-person interview with the team. For certain cases where we have a few follow-up questions, we might invite you on-site one last time or schedule a Skype call. We should have a response for you within a few days to a week.

    Who are you?

You should have deep expertise in your domain (e.g. UX/UI design) and be able to fully own your area of the product. Additionally, you should be open to help out with other short-term needs. Equally important is that we maintain a fantastic work culture and so we are looking for people who, besides being talented, are also awesome, fun, and light hearted.
